Re: Should Daniel Bryan Make John Cena Tap Out Like HHH At WM20?
Why is there a general consensus that Cena is this almighty draw. The WWE brand is the draw; Cena is too, but he's no Hulkamania or Austin 3:16. He impacts ratings, but he's also placed in the hottest angle or best position on the show. He did not work houseshows last October and most of September - attendance was in-line with what it always is. How many PPVs with dismal buyrates have we seen him headline. I've seen house shows do very impressive numbers with and without Cena. He sells merchandise? Sure, however.
CM Punk's T shirt sold; Daniel Bryan's action figure is at this moment number one best seller on amazon for wrestling figures. They have released numerous T-Shirts. Did I imagine all those $30 Yes shirts in the crowd last/this year?
7/08/2013 - Sheamus vs. Daniel Bryan gained 183,000 viewers
7/01/2013 - Orton vs. Kane (Daniel Bryan as referee) gained 217,000 viewers
6/24/2013 - Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan gained 104,000 viewers (this was weak, but should all the blame lay on DB?)
6/17/2013 - Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan gained 248,000 viewers
6/10/2013 - Seth Rollins vs. Daniel Bryan gained 223,000 viewers
6/03/2013 - Ryback vs. Daniel Bryan gained 463,000 viewers
5/27/2013 - The Shield vs. Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan gained 119,000 viewers
5/20/2013 - The Shield vs. Kofi, Kane and Bryan gained 290,000 viewers
Matches and segments that have involved him and Cena have drawn bigger numbers. I'd suggest that people want to watch Daniel Bryan matches and Cena is a draw. A run with the title/subsequent feud, especially if it involves the Bella Twins, will pull good numbers.
