If the Cenation thought John Cena’s schedule as a WWE Champion would get any easier once he turned back the sizable challenge of Ryback at WWE Payback, they were sorely mistaken.

At Money in the Bank on July 14, The Champ will face a new monster of a contender in the form of Mark Henry, the 400-pound-plus powerhouse who thrives on causing pain and appears bent not just on destruction, but also on capturing the WWE Title around Cena’s waist.

Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero made the championship bout official on the June 17 edition of Raw after The World’s Strongest Man callously leveled Cena only one night removed from The Champ’s Three Stages of Hell Match against Ryback. In the moments immediately preceding the attack, Henry delivered what many believed to be a heartfelt swan song meant to cap off a stellar 17-year career in WWE. Instead, Henry’s retirement speech was merely a ruse, a setup used to lull a respectful Cena into a false sense of security and make him easy prey.

Now, the Cenation leader and Henry are on a collision course for July 14, and if Cena loyalists aren't concerned about their hero’s title reign — not to mention his physical well-being — they ought to be.

Ill-tempered even on the best of days, Henry is sporting a huge chip on his shoulder, and it seemingly has everything to do with a single objective: winning the WWE Championship that has eluded him in his near two decades of competition. WWE fans will remember that Henry set his sights on Cena the night after WrestleMania 29, only to have another monster, Ryback, steal the spotlight with a high-profile act of betrayal.

Lost in the commotion was the fact that Henry pinned Ryback on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Considering how much trouble Cena had overcoming the Shell Shocking Superstar in recent months, will he be up to the challenge of Mark Henry, one of WWE’s few competitors to hold a completely valid pinfall victory over “The Human Wrecking Ball”?

Henry also takes a discomforting amount of pride in being the reckless and ruthless gatekeeper of the “Hall of Pain.” The list of Superstars who have been put out of action by the superheavyweight is lengthy, reading like a “Who’s who” of WWE. Could The Champ — who’s been plagued by injuries as varied as bone chips in his elbow to a nearly torn meniscus to a torn Achilles tendon — be walking into the most dangerous match of his 11th WWE Title reign at Money in the Bank?

Find out what happens when Cena’s indefatigable spirit is put to the test by more than 400 pounds of bad attitude and bone-breaking expertise. To watch all the action, catch WWE Money in the Bank live on pay-per-view on Sunday, July 14.

Re: MITB WWE Championship - John Cena vs. Mark Henry

Really hope Henry wins and then drops it to Bryan at SummerSlam.

The biggest match of Henry's career.

Finally, a WWE Championship match in 2013 that I actually WANT to see.

I had the exact same thought. It was easy to avoid Ryback/Cena because I don't give two shits about Ryback either. Now that Cena is going against Henry, though... ugh.

I don't want to get invested in this feud because it's probably just going to be the same ol' shit of feeding someone to Cena. I guess I'll watch the Henry parts of the promos and skip over the Cena parts as best I can. When it comes to the actual match, I won't be able to force myself to watch it. Because what will happen is I'll be rooting hard for Henry to take the strap off Cena and will be pissed off all over again when he doesn't. What I'll do is skip to the end of the match to see if Henry wins. If he does, then I'll go back and watch the whole match knowing I can enjoy it without the fuck job coming at the end. If he doesn't, then I won't get that feeling of being screwed over yet again by the WWE and will have saved myself the wasted time.

I think this is a breath of fresh air from Ryback and, since Henry beat Ryback at WrestleMania 29, the match I wish they would have went with right out of the gate.

It would be nice to see Henry win the WWE Title, but the match WWE should be building to is Cena/Bryan at SummerSlam, so I expect and hope that this match plays into that, so Cena should win. Maybe Bryan wins the WWE Title MITB and they do a staredown to end the PPV.

Stoked for this. Would love Henry to get a thank you reign b/c he so deserves to hold the big title for all he's done, especially in the last few years. If Cena decides to pull out a good babyface performance then this could actually be really good too.

Cena needs a filler feud while they build up Bryan to face him at Summerslam.

This match should've of happened at Extreme Rules instead. Not much interest in it though.

Can Mark Henry beat Cena and become WWE champion?

Normally I would say Cena is going over for sure, but after Henry emphasised a few times how he has never been WWE champion, perhaps it's a tiny bit possible it could be WWE's gift to Henry before he retires for real? If they keep playing at that angle it will start to get me to believe, even though every instinct tells me not to.

I would just about forgive WWE for all the terrible booking if Henry can somehow go over supercena.

And will fans be all on Henry's side? Even as a heel?

A :henry1 title run would be incredible.

Maybe, just maybe it can happen this time guys.

Sorry OP but probably the best women's wrestler Natalya was jobbed out and humiliated on her birthday, in her hometown, for no apparent storyline or otherwise indicated reason. I don't think the WWE believes in gifts.

Re: Can Mark Henry beat Cena and become WWE champion?

I'd like him to, that segment probably earned Henry a good number of supporters and a decent smark crowd might even side with him.

However I'm not so sure if injury reports are true and Cena remains Cena.

I really want it to, more then I'd want Punk to ever hold a World Title again, but like I said not sure it will.

Re: Can Mark Henry beat Cena and become WWE champion?

Despite the way Cena is booked and despite the fact he hasn't had the belt that long part of me thinks this could happen.

I'd love to see Henry get a WWE run, even a short one as the guy deserves it for his long career and also his work over the last few years.

But its not something I would bet my house on, part of me just can't see Cena losing the title that quick and if the rumoured match up with Daniel Bryan at Summerslam is true then Henry isn't winning at MITB.

As for being cheered, it will be like always. The fans sick of Cena's character (including me) will cheer for Henry, the kids and moms and Cenation will still cheer for Superman.

The match is taking place in Philly. Cena is going to be boo'd out of the Wells Fargo center (remember the slammys? He could hardly talk)

Re: Can Mark Henry beat Cena and become WWE champion?

^^^ Well if they run with the angle of "11 time world champion Cena vs Henry who has never won the WWE belt" it could really get the fans to root for him, and might turn Henry into a tweener. I don't want him face.

Jesus, they better not make Cena out as the underdog again to "overcome the odds". I would love it if Henry cut a cm punk 2011 type promo and tell Cena that he is never the underdog.

Re: Can Mark Henry beat Cena and become WWE champion?

I'd absolutely love him to, his WHC run was gold, and his promo last night was one of the best things I've seen in years, a short run will do no harm, sadly I think Cena will 'OVERCOME THE ODDS' Michael Cole... 'OMG CENA HAS LIFTED MARK HENRY UP FOR THE AA, HAVE YOU EVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT KING?'

LOL, actually I have, and I've seen Mark Henry vs John Cena live before, don't really remember the match other than Cena's AA and the Rock giving the Rock Bottom to Henry afterwards.
