In his obsession to settle the score with the 266-pound Anomaly who’s methodically targeted those closest to him, Triple H may have unwittingly ushered in the final chapter of his proud career as a WWE Superstar. The King of Kings will war with the uncontrollable Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania on April 7, but the opportunity comes at a cost: If Lesnar wins, Triple H must retire from in-ring competition. (WATCH)

The No Holds Barred and the retirement stipulations were both ploys of Lesnar and Paul Heyman, who convinced the incensed Triple H to sign on for the fight before knowing the exactly what type of contest it would be. Although The Game likely perceives the No Holds Barred environment — in which all maneuvers and weapons are fair game — as an ideal format for him to reciprocate the pain Lesnar’s inflicted on the McMahon-Helmsley family, less foreseeable was the possibility Triple H’s 18 years as a WWE competitor could come to a close at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Then again, given the tumultuous tone of the his rivalry with the only former WWE, NCAA and UFC Heavyweight Champion in history, maybe Triple H has viewed a WrestleMania showdown with Lesnar as an all-or-nothing affair all along.

After having his arm broken in a loss to The Anomaly at SummerSlam last year, The Game appeared ready to hang up his boots and focus on his front-office duties as WWE COO. Yet, when Lesnar — who quit WWE the night after SummerSlam, boasting he had nothing more to prove — shed his free-agent status and returned in January by breaking the hip of Triple H’s father-in-law, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, The Game was spurred back into action. (WATCH: Triple H and Brock’s raging rivalry)

This time, The Game takes on the responsibility of defending not only the company he helps oversee, but also more importantly, his family and closest allies. According to Heyman, for Triple H to fall short against Lesnar would be the ultimate disappointment — a letdown for the WWE Universe, Triple H’s family and The Game himself. But with his career as a Superstar now on the line, the stakes at WrestleMania simply could not be higher for The King of Kings.

There’s no turning back. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, an intensely aggressive fighter as his opponent and absolutely No Holds Barred, can Triple H make Lesnar suffer the consequences for all the hardships he’s caused? Or will one of WWE’s most incredible careers end abruptly and gruesomely at the hands of The Anomaly? One of WWE’s two proudest warriors will suffer a mighty loss at the only event big enough to host such a brawl, WrestleMania, which kicks off on pay-per-view April 7 at 7 ET/4 PT.

I am excited for this match despite myself. When people (correctly) called the Mania rematch even before Summerslam, I was just like the rest of the smarkz, bitter and cynical about it. But it turns out all I need to get excited about a long-expected rematch is a couple of brawls and a heaping helping of Heyman. HHH looking legitimately badass for first time in a long time, but would be nice to see Brock beat him again

If some people had their way HHH would never win a match and his Mania record from XX on would be 9 straight losses. Those same people say he isn't as big of a star as WWE want us to believe he is yet are always the first to say he should be the one to put people over and create stars. I always find that funny.

This feud is suffering from Brock not being there every week, it really is. They can't sustain any of the momentum they build one week because they next week only 1 half of the program is there and there isn't all that much he can do or say by himself. I'm still looking forward to it though. I just wish they were able to sustain the awesome momentum they do manage to create when they have a segment together.

RIP GAME

Actually they could have sustain the momentum if they wanted to. Its Triple H's career on the line and we were 2 weeks away from it. Triple H's reaction to it was pretty good in his segment but I was waiting for something to happen, something that would make Triple H question his decision to blindly sign the contract. Something like an asshole heel telling him how his career will end at the hands of Brock Lesnar leading the confident Triple H to question whether he made the right decision, we even had Barrett out he could have done that before he got a kick to the balls.

They could also have highlighted how Triple H has always done things on his terms his whole career but ending it forcefully was something that scares him. They could have had later shown a segment where Triple H was actually thinking if he made the right decision and what if it could be his last days in wrestling (he should care about it in kayfabe) while Steph reminding him he is the Game and he should stop doubting himself etc. etc.

But we got nothing like it, the whole "career on the line" stip flunked as Triple H acted as if it didnt put him under pressure and saying that his career is in as much of a jeopardy as Lesnar's. So again.... what was the point of the whole adding a stipulation thing if they were not going to use it.

Lesnar not being there definitely takes away from the feud, but IMO if they would have tried they would have sustained the momentum from last week. Nobody will care about your career, if you yourself dont give a shit.

Remember on Raw last week, Paul Heyman gave one last hypothetical stipulation that the loser of Lesnar vs. HHH would receive Stephanie as the prize?

You got to watch this:

I'm a big fan of Afterbuzz's WWE aftershows. This host, Cameron Kash, talks about how much more dramatic the Lesnar vs. HHH storyline would be if Stephanie was really on the line! He furthers goes into how it would be done.

Stupid WWE writers shouldn't have teased us with it by giving us a cerebral striptease. This could have been freakin' awesome!

5 dangerous things to watch for in Triple H and Lesnar's No Holds Barred Match

The stage is set for Triple H to go head-to-head against Brock Lesnar in a cataclysmic No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania 29, with The Cerebral Assassin’s illustrious career hanging in the balance. And now that Paul Heyman has succeeded in created an extremely personal — well, for lack of a better word — war, WWE.com explores five dangerous things that the WWE Universe should look for in this out-of-control melee.

Beware the Kimura Lock

Here comes the pain indeed, because the same brutal submission maneuver that Lesnar used to break Triple H's arm — not once but twice — will be one of the biggest threats facing The King of Kings on The Grandest Stage of Them All. Not only did The Game already tap out to the excruciating hold last August at SummerSlam, but also with no disqualification possible, Lesnar will be free to lock it in as many times as he wishes until that fateful final bell rings.

Watch videos of those who like to break bones in WWE

What that means is exile from the squared circle could be the least of Triple H's worries. The fact is that of the 206 bones of the human body, more than half of them are located in the hands and feet, and The Anomaly will no doubt be out to break as many of them as he can at WrestleMania.

Putting the (sledge)hammer down

Already reintroduced into the WrestleMania contract signing for this brutal contest, Triple H's undisputed weapon of choice will no doubt be setting its sights on a fierce new target.

The 13-time World Champion's infamous equalizer is tailor-made for use in the free-for-all frenzy of a No Holds Barred Match and the stakes have never been higher. One need only look back at Triple H's willingness to use this weapon at last year's WrestleMania against The Undertaker — an iconic Superstar who The Game greatly respects — to imagine how he will use it against someone he hates.

No matter how ferocious ones fury may be, never underestimate the hammer of the gods!

Have a seat ... right across the back

No doubt about it, Brock Lesnar loves the feel of a sturdy steel chair in his grasp, right up until the moment when he smashes it so hard that it breaks apart — as he did on the March 18 edition of Raw.

Because of its simplicity, it would be easy to dismiss the destructive power of this weapon when compared to say steel ring steps, a barbed wire bat, metal garbage cans or — considering the ferocious strength of The Anomaly — a suddenly dislodged ring post. The chair's mobility and the freedom it gives to unleash numerous blows very quickly make this weapon completely devastating in the hands of an uncontrollable Superstar that knows how to wield it. If you're wondering, that Superstar is Brock Lesnar.

Outside forces unseen

When examining the danger of outside interference in this No Holds Barred Match, certainly the first person to come to mind is Paul Heyman. While wary of Triple H, the scheming manager will surely interject if it best served his Superstar's chances at success. But considering the magnitude of the event, Heyman is hardly the only danger. For instance, one can't count out Heyman's other competitor, CM Punk, who has no love for The King of Kings, or one of the many other "Paul Heyman guys."

On the other side of the coin, never forget the many Triple H allies Lesnar laid waste to in recent months, including Mr. McMahon, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and The New Age Outlaws.

Perhaps, the turbulent WrestleMania contest could even include interference from Lesnar's past, such as UFC President Dana White, UFC Champion Cain Velasquez, Daniel Cormier, Junior dos Santos or Antonio Silva. If so, whose side would they be on?

Collateral damage

A No Holds Barred Match is, by definition, pure destruction. But when war is waged between two of the most battle-hungry forces in WWE history — where the stakes couldn't be more personal — it will prove to be complete and total carnage. If you don't believe it, just look at what happened the last time Lesnar was in a pay-per-view No Holds Barred Match, at Extreme Rules against John Cena.

The ruthless nature of the contest will effectively erase the invisible line between warrior and those watching the battle, to the point where staying out of the way will not only be advisable, but it will also become necessary to survival. After all, there is no count-out. This fight will most likely expand through the crowd, up the ramp and all over the arena. No announce table, concession stand, locking room area or WrestleMania set piece will safe.

I like Bryan Alvarez's version of what the finish should be. Have Vince come out and low blow Lesnar, then the New Age Outlaws attack him leading directly to a Superkick from Shawn Michaels and Pedigree from H. That way they can protect Lesnar by saying it took 4 other men to beat him. This would make Triple H look weak though and the company policy is that Triple H cannot look weak. It's the right move though. Lesnar shouldn't lose 1 on 1.

So the most important thing is that Lesnar must look very strong.

Why not just let Lesnar win the match? It's simpler, easier, and more efficient. We don't need all the other nonsense.

Lesnar F5. HHH gets pinned 1, 2, 3. He gets the Ric Flair ceremony. He gets the DVD later this year. He gets the Hall of Fame induction at 'Mania 30. He becomes a corporate authority figure, succeeding Vince McMahon. And Lesnar moves on to Rock, CM Punk, Undertaker, or John Cena II.

Re: Official HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred/Career On The Line) Discussion Thr

I think it's ridiculous that Trips gets away with using the sledgehammer as his prop of choice. It's just too powerful, and it breaks my suspension of disbelief that he hasn't killed everyone he uses it on. It's believable that a chair gives a good whack, but the hammer should be crackin' skulls like it was going out of fashion the way HHH uses it. Always hate seeing it come out in his matches.

But then he wouldn't have that badass Viking God look that he strives so hard for, so it's a toughie...

45/55 Poll. 4 weeks ago, it would have been a 80/20 in favor of H at least. - Teasing the last match of HHH.

And apparently many ppl are sold by the segment we had on RAW between Rock and Cena. - Teasing a Cena heel turn.

WWE did their homework.

^^ It was a normal match, but HHH told the referee not to stop them from destroying each other

Screw this match if it doesn't get some intentional blood. Not ric-flair amounts of it, but a little blood added to it would only make the match better, and the feud meaningful.

Do you mean blading? Because I am totally against blading in this day and age, just a really outdated practise. Not a fan at all. When a wrestler gets busted open today (increasingly rare) it just draws too much attention to itself, it's become too meta - "was that blading or natural?", detracts from the in-ring story. IMO, of course

Re: Official HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred/Career On The Line) Discussion Thr

Let me start out by first saying that HHH loses this match. I honestly could care less about WM 29 in general, but more importantly this match as well. If this were 12 years ago I would say that this has potential to be feud, or match of the year. However, Lesnar doesn't wrestle week in, and week out. Just popping up at PPV's doesn't really interests me. Just one of those thrown together feuds with two notable names.

Whoa whoa whoa, a month ago, everyone knew HHH would get his win back but now 40% of people think Lesnar will win?

What happened to "oh this WM is sooooooo predictable!"
Triple H's career is on the line, Lesnar has extended his contract beyond Wrestlemania. Shit just got a whole lot less predictable.

Paul Heyman's promo on Smackdown suggests that Triple H is definitely winning. That's what I gathered anyway.

Re: Official HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred/Career On The Line) Discussion Thr

I think Lesnar definitely needs to win this match. To me personally, Brock Lesnar is not a guy who looks good after losing, especially on a part-time schedule, especially if his opponent isn't leaving on a stretcher. I don't think this needs to be the last match on the card for Triple H to lose. I don't think HHH as a part timer draws while Lesnar as a part timer does, thus I think WWE will make the right decision, especially if Lesnar is sticking around another year or two. Really I think last WrestleMania should of marked the end of Undertaker and Triple H's careers, so hopefuly this WrestleMania does.

Re: Official HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred/Career On The Line) Discussion Thr

Heyman has been carrying this feud on his back. Amazing promo on Smackdown and it actually gives me something to maybe look forward to after Wrestlemania if HHH did end up losing (which wasn't the case before) and if they played the story out the exact way Heyman told it, leading possibly to a HHH heel turn and joining forces with either Punk or Cena to create another corporate heel stable with one of those two men as the centerpiece. I would wait until after Wrestlemania 31 to do it so Brock and Heyman won't interfere and cause some big sense issues, but hey... if they're going to turn Cena heel, have Cena turn heel at WM29 or WM30, have him "feud" with the boss HHH and whoever he asks to knock Cena off the mountain leading to WM31, where he joins Cena. All the while we see glimpses of his collapse mentally under the office environment he's now forced to reside in with no way of ever wrestling again.

But that's just my thinking on it. You could then use that to build for WM32 where they put over the next face of the company, whoever that ends up being.
