Re: Official HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred/Career On The Line) Discussion Thr
Gotta be honest, I'm not sure milking a 'retirement' angle when nobody involved has any intention of doing so is particularly smart. Back in the day when retirement just meant a 6 week break it wouldn't matter at all, but these last few years WWE has tried to bring a lot of dignity and class to it.
Flair ended up going back on his word, but they still initially made a huge deal out of it. Shawn has thankfully kept his word and is practically worshipped by fans. Edge has had to step down, again a big deal made of it and so on.
Using this as a hook to get people to buy the PPV - which obviously makes sense in itself - really just makes me think it'll backfire when the time comes that Triple H decides he actually legit wants to hang them up. People are either going to think it's just another storyline and not care, or just not care anyway because it's familiar territory with him now.
