Official HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (No Holds Barred/Career On The Line) Discussion Thread

In his obsession to settle the score with the 266-pound Anomaly who’s methodically targeted those closest to him, Triple H may have unwittingly ushered in the final chapter of his proud career as a WWE Superstar. The King of Kings will war with the uncontrollable Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania on April 7, but the opportunity comes at a cost: If Lesnar wins, Triple H must retire from in-ring competition. (WATCH)

The No Holds Barred and the retirement stipulations were both ploys of Lesnar and Paul Heyman, who convinced the incensed Triple H to sign on for the fight before knowing the exactly what type of contest it would be. Although The Game likely perceives the No Holds Barred environment — in which all maneuvers and weapons are fair game — as an ideal format for him to reciprocate the pain Lesnar’s inflicted on the McMahon-Helmsley family, less foreseeable was the possibility Triple H’s 18 years as a WWE competitor could come to a close at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Then again, given the tumultuous tone of the his rivalry with the only former WWE, NCAA and UFC Heavyweight Champion in history, maybe Triple H has viewed a WrestleMania showdown with Lesnar as an all-or-nothing affair all along.

After having his arm broken in a loss to The Anomaly at SummerSlam last year, The Game appeared ready to hang up his boots and focus on his front-office duties as WWE COO. Yet, when Lesnar — who quit WWE the night after SummerSlam, boasting he had nothing more to prove — shed his free-agent status and returned in January by breaking the hip of Triple H’s father-in-law, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, The Game was spurred back into action. (WATCH: Triple H and Brock’s raging rivalry)

This time, The Game takes on the responsibility of defending not only the company he helps oversee, but also more importantly, his family and closest allies. According to Heyman, for Triple H to fall short against Lesnar would be the ultimate disappointment — a letdown for the WWE Universe, Triple H’s family and The Game himself. But with his career as a Superstar now on the line, the stakes at WrestleMania simply could not be higher for The King of Kings.

There’s no turning back. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, an intensely aggressive fighter as his opponent and absolutely No Holds Barred, can Triple H make Lesnar suffer the consequences for all the hardships he’s caused? Or will one of WWE’s most incredible careers end abruptly and gruesomely at the hands of The Anomaly? One of WWE’s two proudest warriors will suffer a mighty loss at the only event big enough to host such a brawl, WrestleMania, which kicks off on pay-per-view April 7 at 7 ET/4 PT.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

If Lesnar wins and HHH retires all this annoying rematch would make sense. HHH wanting to retire and put over Lesnar to face Rock at WM30...It makes a lot of sense. But if he wins...oh man, it would totally suck. Lesnar will lose momentum and it would be all about HHH's ego.

If HHH is smart enough he would have Lesnar beat him. It reminds me when Oscar del la Hoya faced Manny Pacquiao. The owner of Golden Boy Promotions put over Manny even more...This ment $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.

What I meant to say is that Rock WILL win, not should.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they did Punk-Brock at Wrestlemania XXXI as Punk's last match in the company, although I'm really skeptical of Punk ever getting his Wrestlemania main event.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

I've got nothing wrong with the stipulations, a No Hold Barred match with Triple H's career on the line is what I wanted when I made the prediction for the stipulations a few weeks back. Triple H and Lesnar having an all-out brawl, with weapons, hopefully blood, and Triple H's career on the line - has got me invested. Out of the big 4 matches now, this is the only one I'm somewhat interested by. This years Mania is looking pretty shit, but this match should be good.

I just hope Brock wins and Triple H retires for the reasons Pyro brought up.

Yeah, that'll never happen as long as that moron in your sig is still breathing.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

It would be wise on HHH's part to have Lesnar retire him.

I mean, who else can fill that shoes? Cena? They already faced each other at a WM main event...and it wouldn't make any sense. Taker? They already wrestled 3 times at WM. HBK? A retired guy retiring him? Nah. Punk? This would be a good idea, but I can't see HHH accepting it. Orton? Kane? ...Lesnar is the man to do it. HHH's legacy wouldn't be hurt in any way. Brock is a real monster. Probably the toughest guy to step in a ring. He is perfect.

sad thing is Lesnar doesn't care if he wins or loses as long as he gets paid so really he doesn't give a shit guys. HHH is winning thats it

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

Who needs to win? Lesnar. Who should win? Lesnar. Who will win? HHH.

Lesnar isn't in it for the love. He's a badass, he's one of my favorites of all time, but I just can't see him beating HHH and his career ending with 3 straight losses. 4? Did he have a match between Mania 27 and 28?

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

Wait....maybe it's me, but this is the exact same match from Summerslam with the stipulation of Triple retiring if he loses. Okay??...At least this time they will actually use the stipulation, making the match better than the first by default.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

Triple H's career is over and I'll be in attendance to see his last match.
I hope you are right.

One thing that gives me hopes is that they haven't acknowledge their first match. They talk about how Lesnar attacked Vince, broke HBK's arm and punished the NAO, but nothing about what he did to HHH at SummerSlam. This gives Lesnar some chance of winning the match IMO.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

God I hope that Triple H finally leaves his ego out and lets Lesnar win. Lesnar lost a lot of momentum when Cena pinned him. With the 2 year contract Lesnar signed he has to win. If Triple H wins he is full of crap and his ego is the most important thing not caring for whats best for business. The best build up next to Cena can be Brock vs Taker they just need to make Lesnar unstoppable and it would be $$$$$ all over.

thread should be stickier with the other two main events.

Anyways sadly Hunter is winning is this, it should lose and retire from his in ring career. But I just don't know he is willing to do that yet.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

I hope Triple H doesn't retire. It would take away from future potential WrestleMania matches. HHH could easily keep having matches once a year, like Undertaker. What about WrestleMania 30?

Another loss to Brock Lesnar would have been just as big without HHH's career on the line, IMO. Even though I think Triple H should win.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

Triple H should win. He has 5 years contract signed as a part time wrestler. He will wrestle more matches than Brock in this period. Brock at best is going to wrestle 3-4 matches in his two year contract more than half of which is going to be against part timers.

Unlike the stupid minority on here the casuals are backing Triple H to win which he must after everything Brock has done to him, his family, his friends.

Sure, Trips winning/losing wont affect his legacy but neither would Brock's. The argument that Brock needs to win to look good is weak especially when he will at most wrestle just as many matches in his two years contract as Trips might be wrestling.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

I'm good with the stipulations and I think they make the match a bit unpredictable. Triple H is my favorite wrestler of all time so if this is his last match, I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. I have no doubt these two are going to go to war at Mania.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

After Triple H's potential retirement promo following their Summerslam bout it makes sense kayfabe wise for Triple H to lose and retire, both since he signed the contract and for personal "not having it anymore" reasons. No reason for H to win this one.

Re: Official Triple H Vs Brock Lesnar - Discussion thread

I think this match has the potential to steal the show. Of all the "big" matches, this is surely now the most unpredictable. I expect this to be like Triple H's match with the Undertaker at WrestleMania 27. Two men beating the living hell out of each other and a lot of close falls. It should be much better than their SummerSlam match last year.
