In his obsession to settle the score with the 266-pound Anomaly who’s methodically targeted those closest to him, Triple H may have unwittingly ushered in the final chapter of his proud career as a WWE Superstar. The King of Kings will war with the uncontrollable Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania on April 7, but the opportunity comes at a cost: If Lesnar wins, Triple H must retire from in-ring competition. (WATCH)

The No Holds Barred and the retirement stipulations were both ploys of Lesnar and Paul Heyman, who convinced the incensed Triple H to sign on for the fight before knowing the exactly what type of contest it would be. Although The Game likely perceives the No Holds Barred environment — in which all maneuvers and weapons are fair game — as an ideal format for him to reciprocate the pain Lesnar’s inflicted on the McMahon-Helmsley family, less foreseeable was the possibility Triple H’s 18 years as a WWE competitor could come to a close at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Then again, given the tumultuous tone of the his rivalry with the only former WWE, NCAA and UFC Heavyweight Champion in history, maybe Triple H has viewed a WrestleMania showdown with Lesnar as an all-or-nothing affair all along.

After having his arm broken in a loss to The Anomaly at SummerSlam last year, The Game appeared ready to hang up his boots and focus on his front-office duties as WWE COO. Yet, when Lesnar — who quit WWE the night after SummerSlam, boasting he had nothing more to prove — shed his free-agent status and returned in January by breaking the hip of Triple H’s father-in-law, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, The Game was spurred back into action. (WATCH: Triple H and Brock’s raging rivalry)

This time, The Game takes on the responsibility of defending not only the company he helps oversee, but also more importantly, his family and closest allies. According to Heyman, for Triple H to fall short against Lesnar would be the ultimate disappointment — a letdown for the WWE Universe, Triple H’s family and The Game himself. But with his career as a Superstar now on the line, the stakes at WrestleMania simply could not be higher for The King of Kings.

There’s no turning back. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, an intensely aggressive fighter as his opponent and absolutely No Holds Barred, can Triple H make Lesnar suffer the consequences for all the hardships he’s caused? Or will one of WWE’s most incredible careers end abruptly and gruesomely at the hands of The Anomaly? One of WWE’s two proudest warriors will suffer a mighty loss at the only event big enough to host such a brawl, WrestleMania, which kicks off on pay-per-view April 7 at 7 ET/4 PT.

This has nothing to do with the match but my god, Triple h looks exactly like Bobby Roode. I swear to god they are twins, separated at birth. I've never seen two people look so much alike without being related. I'm just throwing that out there.

If Triple H is going to stay unretired, then I really hope he takes this time to have the matches that he needs to have. Like a rematch with CM Punk... a match with Dolph Ziggler? Alberto Del Rio? Fandango? Why not!

I can see him working with Barett, to given him the rub.

Really underrated match. Shame it was on front of the wrong demographic. Crowds would have been more appreciative anywhere else.

I thought this match was boring as sin, same as every HHH match I've seen since getting back into WWE. You know it's bad when the most interesting part is figuring out what inadvertently got sprayed all over HHH's stomach during the entrance.

Eh, not necessarily true. If that was on Punk during his MITB 2011 entrance, I would still be quite intrigued. And that was a 5 star match. It has nothing to do with the match, but people are interested because it is out of the blue, confusing and makes people want to figure it out.

I see a lot of people here are moaning about the match but when you go on Twitter or other site it's a different outcome and people saying they enjoyed the match and glad Triple H won. With Brock losing won't effect him in some way, I don't think he gave a damn if he won or lost, He just cares about the money. Whoever Brock faces next he will win next match.

I enjoyed Triple H match last night, ok it wasn't one of his best matches but was still good. I was at the edge of seat watching it. The match was better than the other matches of the night except Undertaker vs Punk (Cena vs The Rock was boring I felt I was gonna turn my TV off and going to bed but stuck with it till the end). It was a shame that the crowd were quiet. I will be watching the match again later.

I understand HHH doesn't want to retire yet, he clearly has a few matches left but I wish they didn't add that stipulation at all. There's just nothing to gain from an HHH win unless he goes back full-time for a bit again, which he won't. Lesnar however signed a 2-year extension correct? So he clearly needs to look strong. We already had the babyface winning the WWE Title, the babyface retaining the World Title, the babyface tag champs retaining, so just let Lesnar beat HHH after a brutal match. Such silly booking.

Lesnar was put into the kimura lock three times and didn't tap and one point in the match, he had both Michaels and HHH on the ground in pain. He looked strong. This loss will not effect him.

Anyways, really good match. Even better than I expected to be honest. Still have to say Undertaker/Punk was the best match though.

For the first time ever i really thought Michaels wasn't needed at all. In fact he hindered the match.
I agree. It was kinda of weird considering it was a No DQ match. He could have interfered a ton if he wanted too. Also, it didn't even feel like triple h's career was on the line. The odds were stacked in triple h's favor it seemed

This match was dreadful. This is what happens when you don't give people a reason to care, you end up with a match full of spots that don't have any meaning. Can't believe Lesnar was paid close to 5 million to lose two out of his three matches and have two horrible matches with HHH.

To me this whole feud was conceived by HHH just to make himself look like a tough guy by beating one of the baddest men on the planet. To me this makes it clear that HHH is simply not on the level of Rock/Austin/Taker/HBK as much as he wants to believe he is. Hopefully this year Brock will have someone to work with who knows what he's doing.

Just realized, Lesnar is not only 1-2 since his return but also 1-2 at Wrestlemania overall.

I was sad to see him lose last night. I want the unstoppable, SuperMan from 2002-2003. The one that destroyed Hogan, Rock, Angle, and Undertaker.

Why are they booking Brock so ... human?
