In his obsession to settle the score with the 266-pound Anomaly who’s methodically targeted those closest to him, Triple H may have unwittingly ushered in the final chapter of his proud career as a WWE Superstar. The King of Kings will war with the uncontrollable Brock Lesnar in a No Holds Barred Match at WrestleMania on April 7, but the opportunity comes at a cost: If Lesnar wins, Triple H must retire from in-ring competition. (WATCH)

The No Holds Barred and the retirement stipulations were both ploys of Lesnar and Paul Heyman, who convinced the incensed Triple H to sign on for the fight before knowing the exactly what type of contest it would be. Although The Game likely perceives the No Holds Barred environment — in which all maneuvers and weapons are fair game — as an ideal format for him to reciprocate the pain Lesnar’s inflicted on the McMahon-Helmsley family, less foreseeable was the possibility Triple H’s 18 years as a WWE competitor could come to a close at The Grandest Stage of Them All.

Then again, given the tumultuous tone of the his rivalry with the only former WWE, NCAA and UFC Heavyweight Champion in history, maybe Triple H has viewed a WrestleMania showdown with Lesnar as an all-or-nothing affair all along.

After having his arm broken in a loss to The Anomaly at SummerSlam last year, The Game appeared ready to hang up his boots and focus on his front-office duties as WWE COO. Yet, when Lesnar — who quit WWE the night after SummerSlam, boasting he had nothing more to prove — shed his free-agent status and returned in January by breaking the hip of Triple H’s father-in-law, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, The Game was spurred back into action. (WATCH: Triple H and Brock’s raging rivalry)

This time, The Game takes on the responsibility of defending not only the company he helps oversee, but also more importantly, his family and closest allies. According to Heyman, for Triple H to fall short against Lesnar would be the ultimate disappointment — a letdown for the WWE Universe, Triple H’s family and The Game himself. But with his career as a Superstar now on the line, the stakes at WrestleMania simply could not be higher for The King of Kings.

There’s no turning back. With the weight of the world on his shoulders, an intensely aggressive fighter as his opponent and absolutely No Holds Barred, can Triple H make Lesnar suffer the consequences for all the hardships he’s caused? Or will one of WWE’s most incredible careers end abruptly and gruesomely at the hands of The Anomaly? One of WWE’s two proudest warriors will suffer a mighty loss at the only event big enough to host such a brawl, WrestleMania, which kicks off on pay-per-view April 7 at 7 ET/4 PT.

Re: Do you think HHH will pull a Ric Flair if his career ends Sunday?

There is no match result I'm more sure of than HHH winning, but if he were to lose, yeah I think he'd actually stop wrestling, like Shawn.

What if HHH goes complete heel in all of this. Even though he loses, he abuses his powers as COO and allows himself to come out of retirement, and then becomes this big, power mad authority figure.

Trips ain't going to stop wrestleing anytime soon, regardless of the match stip. As far pulling a "Ric Flair"(meaning he'll wrestle until he's 80)I hope not. HHH should never touch a ring again once he gets close to 50. As for right now he still has some time left, if you ask me.

Physically, yes he can keep going.

But character-wise, he has no time left. He has done everything there is to do in this business. He's beaten everyone, save Lesnar (for now). He has feuded with all of the top guys, from Rock and Undertaker to Cena and Punk.

He might not need to retire forever, but a good 2-3 years absence will freshen him up and do everyone a favor.

Remember -- losing retirement matches doesn't mean his retirement is written into law. Randy Savage lost a retirement match to Warrior in Wrestlemania 7. But one year later at Wrestlemania 8, Savage beat Flair for the title.

Point = HHH needs a good hiatus. This is his chance.

Of course HHH is winning 100%. He has Shawn Michaels in his side. No chance in hell he's losing this match now.

Has to be a swerve in one of the main events. And i still think it will come in this one. Triple H has NO ONE left to face in his career, he needs to be the corporate guy from now on. Saying that though, I will probably be wrong and HHH does win but i just don't see the point.

Retirement matches really mean writing them off TV/wrestling for a certain amount of time. However, it doesn't matter if Triple H wins or losses on sunday since he rarely wrestles and one TV as it is today. Say if he wins, then his next match will be around Summerslam or Survivor Series and that will be it for him in 2013. If he loses, then that means he won't wrestle, but may have sporadic appearances on TV anyway.

only The Game would come out of retirement for a retirement match!

:HHH2

Seriously though, no way will this be HHH last match, firstly i dont see him losing, and if he does there will be shenanigans which will lead to another HHH match.

Rumor is Brock vs. Rock is suppose to happen next year. If that were to happen, I think it would look better to have Brock retire HHH and then have the same stipulation next year for Brock vs. Rock.

I believe Lesnar will, granted not cleanly. I actually think HBK will betray HHH during the match. I mean there is just no logical reason from a business standpoint to have lesnar be defeated by HHH. As HHH does not really even wrestler anymore and they just resigned Lesnar for two more years so elevate and market the guy wo is actually going to be around and you know wrestling.

The WWE and HHH in particular always claim to do whats good for business then we will truly see this in effect come Sunday. As will HHH do what's best for the company going forward and take the lose? Or will be need to inflate that ego and beat Lesnar?

Pretty excited for this match. Good build in my opinion.
Btw, I laugh at anyone who believes Triple H won't wrestle at Wrestlemania 30.

:lmao :lmao :lmao

I am also so sick of people talking about his ego.
Triple H, since Wrestlemania 20 has lost 6 matches and won 2.
People will have EVERY chance to bash that man. I am not a mark for him, but his haters make my head explode.

DAMMIT.

Don't let logic cloud your judgement people.

Trips wins. If you follow the feud its leading to Trips overcoming the beast.
If HHH loses he will look like the biggest jobber in WWE history. Not only did Lesnar already beat him once, but HHH is out for revenge after everything Lesnar and Heyman did and said about HHH, Vince, and Stephanie. If that's not enough to inspire HHH to destroy Lesnar, what is?
