Yeah but they ultimately lost money where it matters.

Proof?

They gained 10%, nobody is aware what percentage increase Rock brings to the table.

Ofcourse no one knows the real percentage, we can only speculate. As per Meltzer's report they lost money with survivor series 2011 and Rock brought much bigger increase there compared to Rumble. Meltzer specifically mentioned that he talked to key people in the company about it.

RR also had 150-200K more buys than Survivor Series. Survivor Series just wasn't a big enough event for the Rock. It's not on the level of Royal Rumble or Summerslam and and a 20% at a C level PPV isn't going to cover Rock's services. They were basically banking on the Rock turning Survivor Series into a Summerslam number.

The fact that WWE has brought back the Rock for a 3rd wrestlemania, and he will be back at WM30, suggests the WWE is happy with its business relationship with the Rock. If WWE was losing money because of the Rock, he wouldn't be there. It's a public company.

What a load of bull. Survivor Series 2011 didnt draw well cuz WWE hardly even promoted it, i remember listening to Wade Keller going off on a live cast about the massive lack of promotion for it. He suggested it was to put Rock in check after he single handily saved and drew Mania 27. Its odd cuz even now WWE doesnt even advertise when hes going to be on Raw.

I think you have to listen to the Meltzer podcast again. He CLEARLY said Survivor Series 2011 DID make money, but that it was very close and they made less money on it than on the B shows, even the ones that did bad.

It's on the March 12th Observer Radio starting around the 37 minutes mark.

Not real the whole thread just read a few posts on each page thought id add my two cents.

The number of international buys is phenominal. when you consider that anyone in europe is watching a childrens TV show in the early hours of the morning its incredible that so many are still paying to watch it.

In the world of downloads and streaming and in most of Europe lots of people are struggling for excess income to fund luxury items such as PPV events at 2am in the morning to still make over 100,000 buys (Our PPV's are around 14.99 mark) so 2.5M around $3.7M is a massive achievement for a 3 hour childrens television show.
