500k for a non-WM PPV in 2013, biggest Royal Rumble in 5 years. Big success as expected with Rock wrestling for the WWE Title again.

Great numbers. Yeah, I agree that The Rock was the biggest draw there, but Cena, Punk and other guys were the part of this success too.

REALLY dissapointing.

I think that the real draw today is Lesnar.

That's going to be the second highest buyrate of the year. Summerslam and Survivor Series have fallen so much that the Rumble is their second biggest PPVs.

They seriously need to change those two PPVs.

Summerslam needs Money in the Bank and be in stadiums with 40,000 capacity. Stay away from Hollywood.

Survivor Series needs the Chamber and War games.

Compared to the increases that Rock brought in for previous PPVs since his return, that number really isn't that good...

WrestleMania 26: 885K
WrestleMania 27: 1.124M
(239K, 27% increase)
WrestleMania 28: 1.253M
(368K, 41.6% increase)

Survivor Series 2010: 244K
Survivor Series 2011: 312K
(68K, 27.9% increase)

Royal Rumble 2012: 443K
Royal Rumble 2013: 498K
(55K, 11% increase)

WrestleMania 27 had a 27% increase from the previous year, just on the basis of the Rock being there, even though he wasn't wrestling (it sure as hell wasn't the rest of the card that caused the spike)...the difference between 27 and 28 can be largely attributed to HIAC, and the fact they spent a whole year hyping the main event. Survivor Series saw a similar increase from WrestleMania that year because of the Rock.... The increase for the Rumble this year was significantly lower than that for the Rock's previous appearances, which is could possibly mean that interest in the Rock is started to fade. We'll see what the numbers for Elimination Chamber bring in to see determine if that's true or not.

-Rock increases PPV buys when he participates. It drops by 10-15% when he leaves.Same with Lesnar.

-It doesn't help the business in the long run.WWE should have booked them with people other than HHH/Cena.Those two are already two of the biggest names ever.Punk winning at RR have firmly established him to the casuals as the one that could do what Cena couldn't.Instead we are watching Rock vs Cena again.

Are these numbers preliminary or final?

But whatever, most successful Royal Rumble of the last 5 years, only because of the G.O.A.T.

Da G.O.AT. is decimating every single record with his every single involvement.Really the Mount Everest and the Himalayas of pro-wrestling.

And to be honest, even though Cena's win took the taste out of my mouth, the overall PPV was really great.

Hoping to see many more classic moments by The Rock!

2.Holds the record of main-eventing almost 17 PPVs that have got over 500k buys(again,a feat of inimitable drawing power that is unmatched by anyone in pro-wrestling history)

4.Sold more merchandise than anyone active between mid 1999-2001.

Not if you go by PPV buys...Cena and Punk each missed one PPV last year, so let's compare:
Punk missed TLC, which only had 175K buys, making it slightly the second worst selling PPV of the year
Cena missed Hell in a Cell which had 199K buys, making it best selling non big four PPV aside from Extreme Rules (which was because of Brock)
