The message behind that match last year was that The Rock beat John Cena and that his era was better. Besides rematches mean shit anyway. Seriously did you really care about Andre/Hogan 2 on Saturday Night's Main Event? or Rock/Hogan at No Way Out?
As far as the WWE title's is concerned Rock of say 2001 wouldn't have accepted the WWE title in the first place. There is no good mainstream exposure to be had it other then making the WWE themselves look like morons. Seriously this was a WCW 2000 type move here? No Dwayne Johnson's not David Arquette but he's hardly the wrestler he used to be now is he?
The birthday celebration was one of the worst episodes of Raw in recent memory. How can you in good conscience defend it? Hell Vince and Co should of been arrested for soliciting prostitution that night.
No he hasn't because it is NOT true.
You are silly as fuck if you think John fucking Cena was buried by The Rock. Get the fuck with that shit. John Cena would tell you himself. People throw the buried term around so much its not even being used correctly.
Of course when Rock was younger he did good in making people look great. As a full time star, there were loads of chances and opportunities to do that. Right now, he is a special attraction. Hell, Hes still doing that in ways today anyway. Whether its praise on the mic, in interviews, in the ring and so on. Simply losing a match against someone isn't the only way in making someone look good, or put them over in importance.
Its not all about his ego and the only message from the match last year was not his era was better either. Right now, yes Rock is winning a lot, and yes his status is god like. WWE is getting the most they can out of him. Rock stature and novelty is sky high. Its no different from Taker coming and winning his one match every year. Rock's getting his in now. Hes getting that long awaited and deserved final run. Hes closing the chapter of his storied WWE career. Guess what Cena is going to be the one to knock him down. The golden boy. THE face of the WWE. Rematch or not, its still going to be important and WWE damn sure will hype it and look at it that way. Saying no one gives a shit about rematches isn't even entirely true.
Im not even defending the actual content form birthday episode, Im saying that it wasn't even that big of a deal. For one night, Vince celebrated and honored one of his biggest superstars. Big deal.
