THE #14 ROYAL RUMBLE CURSE

By now everyone on this forum should know about the Royal Rumbe #14 entrant curse. If you don't then it's pretty self-explanatory, everyone who has drawn number 14 in the Royal Rumble has had bad-luck in the years to follow (with a couple of exceptions).

Here is a list of people who have drawn number 14:
1988-Ron Bass - Left shortly after, went around indy circuit and then retired 2 years later.
1989-Marty Jannetty - Became the unsuccessful Rocker and is a pretty bitter old man now.
1990-Haku - He left 18 months after this RR and apparently paints cars in Florida now.
1991-David Boy Smith - Died at 39 years old
1992-Hercules - Left WWE for WCW, was there a year, went to indy circuit and then died at 46.
1993-The Berzerker - Left shortly after this RR. Switched around between AJPW & WCW until he retired in 1997. Now works at a car dealership.
1994-Doink the Clown - Gone within a year
1995-Jacob Blu - Only lasted 9 months. Apparently works/worked as head of security at TNA.
1996-Doug Gilbert - Yeah... no one knows what happened to this guy or where he is. We do know that he didn't make any impact on the business whatsoever and I don't think he had another match in WWE after this RR.
1997-Goldust - Possible exception
1998-Ken Shamrock - Possible exception
1999-Kurrgan - Released shortly after, apparently now wrestles in Canada.
2000-Bob Backlund - Backlund came back to gain some votes for his election. He lost his election a month later with a poor percentage. He's gonna be in the HOF now though...
2001-The Godfather - Had a tough year after this with no gimmick.
2002-Diamond Dallas Page - Pretty beaten up. No success after this. Although his Yoga is apparently alright
2003-Eddie Guerrero - Died at 38
2004-Rikishi - Released that year.
2005-Orlando Jordan - Went to wrestle in TNA as a bi-sexual character who I believed kissed his opponents or something like that?...
2006-Joey Mercury - Released in 2007
2007-Jeff Hardy - Fucked up his title run, got fired and now wrestles in TNA. He's pretty fucked up but he's doing alright over there. But again, he has had no success in WWE since.
2008-Umaga - died age 36
2009-Finlay - Didn't have much success after this. Now trains the divas I believe
2010-MVP - Released.
2011-Chris Masters - Released.
2012 -Jinder Mahal - He's in 3MB who all seemed to be getting jobbed out on in 3 on 1 handicap matches recently. He's yet to be released or anything though so he might still turn it around.

Anyway, now that everyone understands the curse...

Who do we think will come out number 14 this year? And also, does anyone think WWE are aware of the curse and are now picking wrestlers they don't have much hope for? Do you think some Wrestlers fear coming out number 14? Or take it as a bad sign that WWE don't have much planned for them if they draw number 14?

I reckon Zack Ryder is going to draw it this year for the final nail in the coffin.

Probably a better OP than the last 6 versions of this thread. I think you're right Zack Ryder, or maybe Tensai.

Bob Backlund-A man who held the WWE championship for about 5 straight years and a WWE Hall of Famer.

Jeff Hardy-An all time tag team great and one of the most popular wrestlers in recent times

Eddie Guerrero died at 38...but he had his must succesful moments after that RR match. Same goes for Jeff Hardyhe was very succesful in the next years...And let's face it every wrestler seems to be dying young..and it's not beacuse they get certain number or whatever.. I don't believe in that kind of superstitions. It's irrelevant who gets 14 for me and it should be for the one who gets it.

You have to be kidding me with Jeff Hardy... I'm not his biggest fan as a person or a wrestler but I can't deny how INSANELY popular he was when he CHOSE to leave the WWE (not fired). To say he had no success in the WWE after the 2007 Royal Rumble is a ludicrous statement.

They'd have done anything to keep him at that point as he was arguably the most popular guy in the company.

Anyway not that big a deal, we all know about the 14 "curse", but as with any "curse" there's more than enough exceptions to the rule. Still, I bet deep down guys don't want that number lol.

Zack Ryder or Drew McIntyre seem like likely candidates for this spot. Tensai could also work, but I'm guessing that they put him in the first five or so as the first big man into the Rumble.
