It made so much sense. Taker was already at 15-0 and had cemented his name as an all time great. Edge was undefeated at WM so that would've began a new streak. Edge was in him prime, IMO, at this time.

I respect Taker but I'm still disappointed to this day about the outcome of that main event.

Because it was not worth it and I think Edge turned down the offer. Also, he had already lost the MITB match at Wrestlemania 23 so he wasn't truly undefeated.

For business reasons, the streak is just great. The Undertaker match is a main event each yr, which means bigger paychecks for every wrestler who performs at Mania.

That being said, I was at Mania 24 in Orlando, and I was completely going for Edge. I started watching in 2000 and though I liked the Hardys and Dudleys more than Edge and Christian, it was so cool to see how far Edge had come, and how great of a performer he was. When Undertaker won I was just pissed. Big Edge fan.

O.K, I might be wrong but hadn't Edge lost in a MitB match at WM to Mr Kennedy before that?

Also I guess Edge and backstage didn't want to break the streak and it made sense sort of in story for Taker to get his vengeance, though my memory is fuzzy of this feud (or what I read on wiki and watched on YouTube rather) Edge won it back a few months later didn't he?

Yes, Edge had 'lost' in the MITB match the year before at WM23. But it was Edge himself that was plugging his own undefeated streak going into the match with 'Taker, so obviously because he didn't get pinned or made to submit, they didn't count it as a loss.

Edge wasn't on Takers level. At no moment in time did I think he'd beat Taker.
