Re: Best PPV of all time?

Royal Rumble 1992 and SummerSlam 1992 will forever be my favorites of all time.

Damn straight. I personally love Wrestlemania VIII despite the main event being trash. All of 1992 was gold.

Wrestlemania X and Wrestlemania X7 are both up there as well for me. Tough to pick just one.

Wrestlemania X-7 and SummerSlam 2002 instantly come to mind.

i just rewatched mania 17 and summerslam 2002 back to back recently and mania 17 has aged and starts out really slowly and has alot of filler and ultimately ends with a very poor booking decision that still greatly effects business more than 12 years later

summerslam 2002 starts out on fire and continues right through with the only filler match being test and taker, lesnars put over superstrong and that decision still effects business 11 years later

Survivor Series 2005 (Smackdown/Raw, Flair/HHH)
No Way Out 2006 (Taker/Angle, Rey/Orton, Benoit/Booker)

Just a few to start with.
Much as you and I are often at each other's throats , the bolded choices are absolutely spot-on. No discussion of the best PPV's of all time is complete without them.

That said, here come my complaints.

While Backlash 04, Vengeance 05, and No Way Out 06 are all very good shows, none of them can compare to Vengeance 2003. All three of those brand-specific shows have at least one very good match, but they're all top-heavy - go back and look at the Backlash 2004 undercard if you don't believe me. Vengeance 2003, on the other hand, features not only two great main event matches (Undertaker/Cena and Lesnar/Show/Angle), but two undercard matches that would both be MOTY candidates in 2013 (World's Greatest Tag Team v. Mysterio/Kidman and Benoit v. Guerrero) and are far better than anything on the undercard of those other shows.

Likewise, WrestleMania XIV is so much better than WrestleMania XX and 21, it's not even funny. XX was bloated and uneven and only produced one truly great match (HHH/HBK/HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED). 21's two title matches range from the barely mediocre (Batista/HHH) to the positively abysmal (Cena/JBL), though the undercard was solid. WrestleMania XIV, meanwhile, is one of the most important shows in WWE history and is top-rate from beginning to end.

God, this third hour of Raw really drags...

Re: Best PPV of all time?

Surprised the ECW one night stand PPVs haven't really been mentioned, I thought both were fantastic with an awesome atmosphere.

Probably one of the last pay-per-views I expected to be on the list of best of all-time.

Anyways I'd probably say WrestleMania X-Seven or SummerSlam 2002. Both of those pay-per-views are great. Lost count how many times I've watched both.
