Just a few to start with.
Much as you and I are often at each other's throats
, the bolded choices are absolutely spot-on. No discussion of the best PPV's of all time is complete without them.
That said, here come my complaints.
While Backlash 04, Vengeance 05, and No Way Out 06 are all very good shows, none of them can compare to Vengeance 2003
. All three of those brand-specific shows have at least one very good match, but they're all top-heavy - go back and look at the Backlash 2004 undercard if you don't believe me. Vengeance 2003, on the other hand, features not only two great main event matches (Undertaker/Cena and Lesnar/Show/Angle), but two undercard matches that would both be MOTY candidates in 2013 (World's Greatest Tag Team v. Mysterio/Kidman and Benoit v. Guerrero) and are far better than anything on the undercard of those other shows.
Likewise, WrestleMania XIV
is so much better than WrestleMania XX and 21, it's not even funny. XX was bloated and uneven and only produced one truly great match (HHH/HBK/HE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED). 21's two title matches range from the barely mediocre (Batista/HHH) to the positively abysmal (Cena/JBL), though the undercard was solid. WrestleMania XIV, meanwhile, is one of the most important shows in WWE history and is top-rate from beginning to end.
