Can't say I know much of anything about Sammartino aside from the fact he's the longest reigning WWE champion in history, but the simple fact I've seen him regarded many times as "The Hogan before Hogan", I'd say he more than deserves to be in the HOF.

Between Foley, Sammartino, and Trish all getting inducted, this is shaping up to be one hell of a HOF ceremony.

Savage should get more focus, so I hope they're not adding him this year. He was going to be the headliner but because of his death they can't do it, so at least he should co-headline, anything else is unacceptable. Savage's HOF speech should have been one of the greatest moments of all time, I still can't believe that it will never happen. Would love to see Rock and Macho Man in the same year. Would be a perfect scenario and closure for me personally.

Who goes on last? Mick Foley? or Bruno?

I think Foley will let Bruno to go on last.

Sammartino in the HOF ! Never thought I'd see this day lol. It's going to be a great moment to watch.

Anyone who didn't think Bruno was going in is nuts.

McMahon just overpaid to get Bruno in. My guess Bruno got a check for $250 to 500K

My guess Bruno goes in... The WWE does a video on Bruno's legacy.... Bruno will be making a tour of Wal-Marts signing autographs for his new video.

BRUNO SAMMARTINO, “THE LIVING LEGEND”

TO ENTER WWE® HALL OF FAME

STAMFORD, Conn., February 4, 2013 – WWE (NYSE:WWE) announced today that Bruno Sammartino will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Madison Square Garden.

Sammartino, nicknamed “The Living Legend,” is a two-time WWE Champion and the longest reigning WWE Champion in history, holding the title for a combined 11 years. His first title reign began on May 17, 1963, where he defeated “Nature Boy” Buddy Rogers at Madison Square Garden. After losing the Championship in 1971, he regained the title on December 10, 1973, defeating Stan Stasiak at Madison Square Garden, holding the Championship until April 30, 1977. When he retired from the ring, Sammartino became a color commentator for WWE’s syndicated Superstars program and stepped back into the ring on special occasions. After his departure in 1988, Sammartino was openly critical of WWE, and for many years declined the offer to be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame, citing concerns with WWE’s content and culture.

“For my fans around the world, I am pleased to be joining the WWE Hall of Fame, especially at Madison Square Garden,” said Bruno Sammartino.

“Having sold out more than 200 shows at Madison Square Garden and being the longest reigning WWE champion in history, Bruno Sammartino is truly ‘The Living Legend,’” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman and CEO. “This is an extraordinary and historic moment to have Bruno take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame.”
Would be an historical moment to see Bruno entering MSG. JR said on Twitter that WWE did a video package on RAW. I hope that they can do a documentary DVD.

I hope they dont over-crowd the list of inductees since the first 4 were so strong names. Every single one deserves at least 45 mins and that's the 3h of HoF just on these 4 announced inductees.

I think they went with Foley and announced him first because they didn't have Bruno guaranteed and possibly didn't think he would go for it. They announced Foley and obviously a deal has been made with Bruno which now forces Foley to take the second spot I guess.

My exact reaction when I knew Bruno was getting inducted

Bruno deserves a standing ovation for being the Hogan before there was a Hogan...a real standing ovation.
It's so amazing to see my childhood getting praise in this forum

How is Backlaund not headlining the HOF? He had the title for what like 6 years?

I am going to the Hall of Fame this year thanks to HHH

Not happy to see Bruno getting inducted, because I respected the hell out of him for bashing the WWE HOF before. I wonder what changed. Meh, fuck it, I guess everyone has a price, after all.

#285 ·
I think it has to do with the fact that he didn't like the product WWE was putting out a decade ago and a half ago. Not to mention the rabid drug and steroid use that use to go around. Now, WWE has a Wellness Policy and is family-entertainment.

#284 ·
You know HHH getting Bruno inducted has brought back the saying "Anything can Happen in the wwe"

#286 ·
So now officially the only guys missing in the HOF now are:

Randy Savage
Ultimate Warrior
Owen Hart
Dynamite Kid
Rick Rude

Too bad only 2 out of these 5 live.

I think it takes a big man to do what Bruno did. He never came back for the money, but he had his eyes and mind open and did listen to Triple H, and the fans.

I guess Triple H's nick name the cereberal Asassian is well deserved by "manioulating" Bruno.

Shocked to see the news on wwe.com's front page. This will be one of the most significant WWE HOF inductions EVER. WWE getting the two longest reigning WWE Champions ever is huge. Congrats BRUNO!

Trips should induct Bruno and he should go last imo. I still would understand why they would put Foley last though.
