They provide an example that can be followed. Hogan proved that getting a big guy with a signature moveset that rarely loses, and placing him at the top of your company, makes you big money. That's been seen and repeated since and it's something that every promotion has taken notice of. Trump proved that if you have the money to shell out for getting one of the richest businessmen on the planet involved in an angle (no one but Vince does) it will, of course, make you big money. A staple company face versus a one-off deal. He's certainly not irrelevant to the WWE as a company, but in terms of industry-wide impact I'm not seeing it.
