Backlund should headline the thing, he was overall much more important to the industry than Mick Foley ever was. I know people are saying Foley is more famous these days because he's only about a decade or so separated from his career, but isn't the whole purpose of the Hall of Fame to preserve the memory of past legends? What's the point if you're just going to play it off like the newer stuff is always better?
It would be like if Cena and Lou Thesz were inducted the same year, you would be retarded to put Cena over Thesz.
Backlund is a bigger star than Foley.
Foley is more relevant to the current generation so WWE would probably put Foley to headline the HOF.
I don't know about "MUCH bigger star" but Foley is certainly more relevant and known to even young fans today since he has been consistently on TV for the last 15+ years while Backlund hasn't. But don't undersell Backlund's rich history in building this company. He was THE MAN to take the mantle for over half a decade after Sammartino's run in WWF. Bob Backlund was unquestionably the face of pro wrestling in the United States (along with Flair in the NWA at the time) and I am so happy he will get the recognition he rightfully deserves with this Hall OF Induction. I want WWE to do a DVD documentary on Backlund too.
Foley and Backlund, wow what a double whammy. Two of the most respected legends of all time. His first run was before my time but I loved his crazy heel act in 1994, his Survivor Series match with Bret was a classic.
Amen...when I watched that match it just was so intense. Backlund seemed so out of touch with the WWF of that time, but he and Hart pulled out the stops to make that one of the best matches of that decade.
