Do you think the voting was fixed for Taboo Tuesday/Cyber Sundays?

I was just thinking how WWE recently got busted for fixing some of their voting results which gave some insight into how WWE operates when it comes time to let the fans "choose" what they want to see. This sort of thing always makes me wonder what was really going on behind the scenes when they had the voting based PPVs each year. Since it was all done through their website, they had full control over it all.

I just wonder though, if they actually did let us have a say in it, but just specially designed it all so our votes would either be for something that has no impact on the results or have only one obvious choice to vote on.

There were only six title changes across the five events held. First Shelton Benjamin won the IC title after being voted as Jericho's opponent, every other option was either a weakly booked midcarder or a jobber. Both the 2004 and 2005 events had tag title changes, but they had no voting options and thus were out of our hands anyway. In 2006 Lita won the Women's title against Mickie James, but the voting was for match type and thus did not impact who walked away with the title. The same event saw Ric Flair and Roddy Piper win the tag titles after Piper was voted in as Flair's partner, the two other options were Dusty Rhodes and Sgt. Slaughter, two people who under no circumstances would have won a popularity vote against Piper. Finally in 2008 Batista won the WHC, but the voting was for who would be the special referee, which was also an obvious choice, who honestly would not have voted for a Steve Austin appearance?

I personally think they were probably fairly honest with the vote distribution, but there were one or two results that made me wonder. In 2004 it was very important that Edge lose the vote to Shawn Michaels for the world title match as it was a big part of his heel turn. Edge lost by only 5% which was pretty close, he was pretty popular that year so I could imagine it possible he actually won the vote.

The most laughable option ever was for Batista vs Coachman in 2005 where you could have voted for either a street fight, an arm wrestling match, or a verbal debate. In hindsight, I wish I voted for the debate lol.

We will never know, how ever I think its worth mention, the way heel turns work etc Edge "having to turn becuse of that" was most likely thought after the fact, so its not like they said "ok we need this, lets rig it"

I do think voting can be fixed and often is, but when you have jerks voting for hornswarlge, not cause they want it but just for laughs can you blame them

According to Shawn, Vince didn't want to fix the votes for that event (Even though Shawn was injured and he would've preferred to not work the singles match). However, I do think that they knew Edge won't win the vote simply because he's a heel.

Maybe for some of the matches. Like your WWE Championship one and the other two compete for tag team gold was probably fixed. But all of the other ones, im sure the wrestlers were known in advanced to know what there up so they can rehearse it. But like a pick outfit for a Diva Battle Royal was probably really up to the fans to decide.

No they not. But the way wwe did the votes was choice two shit choices compared to the choice they want.

Jericho goes in detail about this in his book and claims it's 100 percent legit and that they keep the results away from the performers until the fans here it as well. Jericho doesn't seem like the type to lie about this, and the amount of detail he goes into describing Taboo Tuesday 04 is awesome.

That being said, usually they just give one really fucking obvious choice. I can only think of a few upsets in the PPVs history like MIZ beating out BDV and Morrison for a shot at Punk.

IIRC, a big babyface always won the poll like HBK. Seems legitimate to me.

That's really the only reason why I think they were real. I don't think Jericho would lie to protect WWE about something like that.

This year's Slammy Awards however were totally fixed though.
