Re: Official Royal Rumble Match Discussion Thread

I forgot about Christian and Henry. They would be cool surprises I guess. I'm a bit iffy on The Shield being in the Rumble myself. I initially didn't think they would be but then they were mentioned in that new promo video in the restaurant. I'd personally love to see it. Like Sabin mentioned above, the moment the music hit for one or all of them would be a mark out moment for sure. I'd also love to see Brock/Taker/HHH return or at least one of them but I doubt that too. Those were more wishful thinking. Either way though, I'm actually legit looking forward to the Rumble this year. I feel that the last 2 years were TOTAL FUCKING SHIT and while this one may not be bursting at the seams with star power, there are actually quite a lot of guys in there this time that have character development and who can provide a few mark out moments imo. Even if we don't get a BIG name return, I still think this could be a great match.

Re: Official Royal Rumble Match Discussion Thread

Yep. Christian & Henry (well plus The Shield after I made mention of it) are my must haves for the match. 5 out of 7 right there. There could be some potential for this match to be more fun than the last few. 2011 did have Nash return and the awesome Nexus stuff. Till Cena owned them. But yeah, shouldn't be hard to top those two matches when they were pretty ok at best.

I wouldn't even put Triple H in your head. He's the biggest long shot to occur, if you ask me. Brock would be the one I could buy out of the 3 mega stars. That's only if he wins it of course. If he comes out - game, set, match. BROCK.

Re: Official Royal Rumble Match Discussion Thread

I agree with you on the Rumble having more of a buzz to it this year. I always enjoy the Rumble matches, but 2012's felt very flat to me. There was a severe lack of star power in that one. And perhaps it was less exciting because we all knew that Cena/Rock was going to be the main event at WrestleMania, anyway. I also think that the ultimate fates of the previous years' winners (ADR in 2011, Edge in 2010, Orton in 2009 and Cena in 2008) has done a lot to kill the excitement of winning the Rumble. Just doesn't seem to have the same importance that it used to.

Anyway, I would love to see the likes of Lesnar, Undertaker and Triple H show up, but I just don't want to get my hopes up because I just can't see it happening. I would love to be wrong, though. And I do think that The Shield should be in. That would be good for them. Aside from that, I do think that Christian and Henry are due back, along with Jack Swagger. Just think it would be a good time to bring those guys back into the mix.

Re: Official Royal Rumble Match Discussion Thread

Yeah, I'm not going to tell myself Trips or Taker or Lesnar are returning and then end up disappointed when they don't. I learned my lesson in 2011 with the Rumble. Totally convinced myself that HHH was going to return and threw a complete bitch fit when he didn't. That's the last time I do that. I look forward to a big name return but I won't be devastated if we don't get it. I'd love to see The Shield in there for sure. I'm also interested in the interplay between Cena, Orton, Seamus, Ryback, Bryan, Kane, Sandow, Rhodes etc. Lots of people in there that I have an interest in or at the very least think they can provide some cool moments. So yeah, I'm feeling somewhat optimistic this time around.

BORK winning though? Fuck. Talk about marking out lol.

CESARO is who I'm looking forward to making the match for me come sunday.

DOLPH too. But lol @ the horrible logic used on RAW. Beat the Clock was for #1 or #2. umm.

Definitely. I cannot describe how I felt last year when Lesnar's music hit and he came walking out the night after WrestleMania. If his music hits during the Rumble and he comes down and wins the thing (which I can't see him losing if he does actually get in), it would be like last year times ten. Probably would be a similar reaction for everyone around here, since most people are so very against Cena/Rock II as the title match.

That would be cool. What would you prefer though? Lesnar entering the Rumble and winning it or him interfering in the Punk/Rock match setting up Lesnar/Rock @ Mania?

Re: Official Royal Rumble Match Discussion Thread

WWE's (un)logic is astounding sometimes. Why are we supposed to hate Dolph when he's constantly getting the odds stacked against him? That was the perfect opportunity for him to go in at 30 and make a big elimination to get some heat but noooooo, that would make too much sense.

I think Cesaro will get a good showing along with Dolph and most likely Seamus too. Then we'll have the big elimination scenarios with the Ryback's and Cena's in the match.

Brock returning and just destroying everybody around him would be fantastic but yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up. I'd sure as hell mark though.

Hmm, that's a tough one for me, because I really want to see Punk retain the WWE Championship. That having been said, Lesnar returning and winning the Rumble would be a very exciting moment and much more exciting than the past few Rumble winners and certainly more exciting than seeing Cena winning. I'm going to go with Lesnar winning the Rumble. That would be more exciting. And it seems much more logical to me. Don't see why Lesnar would want to help Punk. I think it goes against his character.

Good point about Ziggler, Starbuck. I'm glad he's got the briefcase and he will be champion very soon, but I do feel like WWE drops the ball with Ziggler. Perhaps it has something to do with that rumor of Ziggler possibly going face sometime soon? Maybe the WWE doesn't want Ziggler to get too hated, making it easier to turn him if they decide to? I don't know. Just a guess. WWE is screwy sometimes.

Re: Official Royal Rumble Match Discussion Thread

Dolph in number 1 or 2 is so bland and uninspiring. Allowing him to be number 30 would have not only made more sense, but been on the positive side of being fresh. Dolph has the odds in his favor. How could that not work when trying to keep establishing him? Miz was number one last year. bfd. He stuck around and then was thrown out in lackluster fashion. Is that what will happen to Dolph? Possibly. Pass.

Cesaro has to look good. I'd imagine. Look strong, get taken out by a powerful, top face. Cena, Ryback, or Sheamus will work. He'd still leave smelling like a rose.
