WrestleMania XXIX Match Card Predictions

WrestleMania XXIX

John Cena v. The Undertaker

The Rock v. Brock Lesnar
Special Enforcer: Floyd "Money" Mayweather

WWE Championship
CM Punk v. Sheamus

World Heavyweight Championship
Dolph Ziggler v. Ryback

World Tag Team Championship
Team Hell No v. Big Show & Mark Henry

Six Man Tag Team Match
The Shield v. Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio & Sin Cara

Intercontinental Championship
Six Pack Challenge

Kofi Kingston v. Cody Rhodes v. Alberto Del Rio v. Damien Sandow v. Christian v. Wade Barrett

United States Championship
Antonio Cesaro v. The Miz

Divas Championship
Lumberjill Match

AJ Lee v. Kaitlyn

I tried to get as many stars on the card as possible and tried to put the people WWE are high on or have momentum at the moment. That's why I have the multi-man matches I have here. Orton will want revenge on The Shield after his shoulder injury and the Shield are performing together either in a 2 on 2 tag or 6-man tag. I put Mysterio & Cara in there (yeah forget the 1 on 1 between them) because Shield have injured them also so this should be a heated grudge match.

Miz just turned face and I think they want to showcase him in a solid midcard match and Cesaro is one of the most impressive in the US Title scene in quite some time. Plus, Antonio could carry Miz to a good match. At least I can get some pleasure at him killing him with some European uppercuts. AJ wins Divas Title in her hometown. Her character is all over the place so I wouldn't be surprised if she is face again by March. Even if she isn't, I can see her getting a good reception either way in a match with her former friend.

Kane & Bryan might as well ride this Team Hell No to Mania. Bring Henry back to form a monster alliance with Show and challenge them. I mean, I could see Show keeping the title to Mania and dropping it to Ryback in a hard hitting match that ends with Ryback lifting Show but I can see Ziggler cashing in before Mania too with the momentum he has now after defeating Cena.

Funny enough I did not add Triple H to the card when I was putting this together. If he's not facing Brock I don't know who he'll be in there with.

Ryback wins the Royal Rumble imo. Ziggler eventually cashes in and goes on to bump like a madman at Mania before dropping the belt to Ryback. I put Sheamus in there with put because Ryback will move over to the World Title scene, I figured it make sense to add another top face to the WWE Title scene. The company is obviously high on Sheamus, he had a good run this year with the World Title, and it wouldn't be a bad idea for him to end Punk's enduring reign on the biggest stage. That is if Rock doesn't end it at Rumble. I'm also a fan of Taker/Punk "500 day WWE Title reign vs. 20 year Streak" Match but with Punk/Sheamus you don't have to worry about what to do with the belt immediately following Mania but I'm not bother with a nostalgia pop reign (Taker or Rock) personally.

So if that happens, I want Brock to cost Rock the title at Rumble. Have Brock shock Rock with an F-5 at during the WWE Title match, brutalize him the night after on Raw, Heyman talks the feud up for a few weeks, return confrontation at Elimination Chamber, and build on the RTWM from there. That is a MASSIVE special attraction match I would love to see. If WWE could get Floyd Mayweather to be special enforcer you could potentially be looking at record breaking Mania buys again!

That brings me to the long awaited, epic clash between Undertaker & John Cena. They could wait to 30 but I feel like we have been waiting long enough and if the opportunity presents itself like it does now since Cena is not locked in a booked in advance match, he is not the champion, and Undertaker needs a big opponent for the show. I would actually start the feud in the Royal Rumble match with Taker making a return and Cena eliminating him from the match. Taker leaves giving Cena a death stare and you build from there. The atmosphere these two would have in a stadium of 60-70 thousand people losing their minds is the magical WrestleMania experiences I fuckin live for. DO IT NOW WWE!

Hopefully WWE doesn't put the worst possible main events together (HHH/Brock II & Rock/Cena II, ugh) when they have so many top stars at their disposal to create something special in New Jersey. Which btw, they should use Bruce Springsteen for the Mania theme song and have him perform live!

Re: WrestleMania XXIX Match Card Predictions

WWE Championship match

Rock (C) vs Cena - Once In A Lifetime, until we need more money.

Streak match

CM Punk vs Undertaker - fpalm fpalm fpalm

Triple H is a greedy bastard who can't do a job without getting his win back even though he's virtually completely retired and doesn't need it match

Triple H vs Brock Lesnar

World Heavyweight Championship match

The Ryback vs Dolph Ziggler (C)

Sheamus vs Randy Orton - Freshly turned heel

AJ vs random diva just put in there to be AJ's bitch for the Divas title (C)

WWE Tag Team Championships match

Team Hell No vs The Shield (Under the Freebird Rule)

Sin Cara vs Rey Mysterio

Intercontinental Championship match

Kofi Kingston (C) vs Damien Sandow - I have no idea why I'm predicting this when I can already tell it probably won't happen but I don't see how they can hold Sandow off a midcard title that long. It's just...time.

United States Championship match

Antonio Cesaro (C) vs ...I don't fucking know, somebody. Some American. - Cesaro finally drops the US title. And I can't see it being a joke like Swagger, I'm sorry, they clearly like Cesaro too much to do that to him.

I have no idea what they do with Big Show, ADR, Miz, Cody, Barrett (I guarantee it won't be important), a few other people but that's a few tentative predictions based on...some of them on what they're clealry building towards, some just based on complete speculation because I need to think of something.

Re: WrestleMania XXIX Match Card Predictions

WWE Championship
The Rock (c) vs. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar

The Streak
The Undertaker vs. CM Punk

World Heavyweight Championship
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. RYBACK

They are the three matches I'm expecting to be on the show right now, anything else is just complete guess work. AJ will win the Divas Title, I'm fairly sure of that, probably over Kaitlyn, perhaps with some celebrity involvement, like Maria Menunous as guest ref or something daft like that. As Pyro predicted, I think Cesaro will finally lose the US Title to the appropriately titled Some American, who knows who, I pray to god not Jack Swagger. The IC Title match could literally be ANYTHING, I highly doubt Kofi is still the champ come Mania' and they have a host of names they could put in that match - Barrett, Miz, Sandow, Cody, Del Rio, Bryan, Kane, Kofi etc etc so there is no point even trying to speculate on who they go with. I expect The Shield to have acquired more members by then and be involved in some sort of multi man match, like last years Johnny vs, Teddy match. I could see WWE doing Orton vs. Sheamus in a face vs. face match with Orton going over, after the year he's had I can see them wanting to rebuild him, starting at Mania'. They may even turn him heel, who knows? Who cares?

Also, Rey will put Sin Cara over if neither are injured, which is extremely unlikely.

Re: WrestleMania XXIX Match Card Predictions

Triple Threat Match for the WWE Championship with Mick Foley as Referee
The Rock vs John Cena vs C.M Punk with Paul Heyman & The Shield (Rollens, Ambrose, Reigns)
Winner: C.M Punk
Time: 46:34

Here the Big Three finally collide after months of anticipation, Punk defends his WWE Title against Chamber Winner John Cena & Rock getting his place after match after match with interference who had lost his rematch by DQ, after weeks of anger Triple H gave Punk the offer that if he beat HHH in a match he'd get involved in the title Match , he won & got his place but it was announced the same night that Mick Foley was Guest Referee. During the match Punk has Living Colour perform at his entrance as he enters with Paul Heyman & The Shield, Cena debuts a new shirt & Rock enters with the biggest pop of the night. Punk retains after the Shield gets removed from ringside but Kassius Ohno & Brad Maddox comes from the crowd & interfere while Foley is distracted by Heyman, they take out Rock then Punk gets the GTS on Rock & goes for the pin & Punk retains.

World Heavyweight Championship
Big Show vs Ryback
Winner: Ryback
Time: 16:57

After Ryback made his final decision at Elimination Chamber, the focus on SD has been the two giants & when they will collide at WM, the match would have a huge stare down similar to Hogan vs Andre, its not the best technical wrestling match but its sure entertaining in ways, Big Show fails to pin Ryback after 3 chokeslams & 2 K.O Punishes, in the end Ryback gets Big Show in his solders & marches across the ring & connecting with the Shellshock, the crowd are in shock, Ryback goes for the pin, 1, 2, 3 Ryback is your new WHC, he puts his foot on Big Show & lifts the title in the air.

Sudden Death Rules
Brock Lesnar with Paul Heyman vs The Undertaker with Paul Bearer
Winner: The Undertaker
Time: 26:31

When Triple H made his speech about WM claimed he wanted his rematch with Lesnar but as he asked for Lesnar to come to the ring the bell rang & the lights went off, & Undertaker appeared for the first time in over a year & had a stare down with HHH but HHH walked away & then Lesnar with Paul Heyman attacked Undertaker from behind & gave him a brutal F5. The week after that Brock & Heyman are in the ring cutting a promo but then the lights go out & Paul Bearer with several Druids are on the stage with other druids bringing down a casket fit for Brock, Heyman comes down to the ring with the lights still dim, he then warns Brock & Heyman of Undertaker out for revenge but then Brock makes the attack on Bearer & puts him in position for a Kimura Lock as he connects with it Heyman goes to check out the casket he opens it then suddenly a hand grabs Heyman by the throat & Undertaker steps out & connects with the chokeslam & Brock unsuccessfully doesn’t break Bearer’s arm but instead of trying it he goes for Undertaker to save Heyman after an attack from behind, Brock & Heyman make a run for it throw the crowd, Undertaker gives his Tombstone sign & points to the WM logo. The next week Triple H makes the match for WM but under Sudden Death Rules, since then every week its been mind games from both as Brock & Undertaker cant be there every week so Heyman & Bearer fill in by promos & mind games, Two weeks before WM, Brock & Undertaker are present & during the show Brock gets Undertaker down & throws him into a casket & puts it inside a Hearse, he then drives it outside the arena & Heyman has Bearer tied to a tree watching, Brock locks the doors of the Hearse & drives the Hearse right into a nearby river while he jumps out of the front seat before impact, this has everyone believe that Undertaker has gone but next week Heyman & Brock are in the ring talking about last week’s events & then the lights go out & Bearer magically appears in the ring & warns them that Undertaker will be at WM & will end the career of Brock Lesnar, Lesnar then attacks Bearer & connects with the Kimura Lock & this time break’s Bearer’s arm. During the match I would have Brock & Heyman out first then have Druids & Paul Bearer with a broken arm come out with a casket & then have Undertaker come out, The match wouldn’t go on as long as an hour since I wouldn’t enjoy it, only maybe 30 mins at most & make it a wee bit similar to Undertaker’s last match at WM where its more hardcore etc, I would have a point where its clear that Brock is going to lose like 3 mins before the end & have Heyman run away backstage while Undertaker gives the Tombstone to Brock, then when Undertaker wins the match have him put Brock into a casket & have the druids take it to the stage where it would be transported onto a Hearse with no driver & have it drive away.

Battle of the Luchadors
Sin Cara vs Rey Mysterio
Winner: Sin Cara
Time: 16:25

While holding the Tag Titles Rey & Cara haven’t seen eye to eye in recent weeks, within 4 weeks after EC the heat finally breaks out as they lose the Tag Titles to Rhodescholars in their rematch, Rey who has had enough of Cara shakes his head at him in disappointment & goes backstage, this would be to give Cara cheered as a face & making things 50:50 instead of everyone cheering Rey, I weeks leading up to WM they wouldn’t attack each other but cost each other matches & build up hatred for each other, When the match happens, I would have Sin Cara win as the future & as the better man as he would need this win unlike Rey who’s career would be over at this point, they would shake hands walk to the back together then WWE makes the announcement that they’ve broken the world record of Most Masks worn at an event & then the fans cheer & throw their free Cara & Mysterio masks up in the air

Beard vs Mask with Dr Shelby as Guest Referee
Daniel Bryan with Pete Rose vs Kane with Charlie Sheen
Winner: Kane
Time: 8:11

Here would be a comedy match involving celebrities, After EC where TeamHellNo was officially no more, they go on for weeks about how much they hate each other, on a special edition of RAW where Pete Rose was a Guest & only 5 weeks to WM had meet D-Bryan, he told Rose about his hatred for Kane & how he should be Champ etc, Rose quickly bonds with D-Bryan & helps him interfere in Kane’s match costs him a title shot, the week after D-Bryan cuts a promo & calls out Kane by saying how he is more popular & how he had a celebrity on his side but then Charlie Sheen appears on the titantron & cuts a promo on D-Bryan, this pisses Bryan off he starts the No Chants then Kane comes from behind & gives him the chokeslam, from here on out they cut promos at each other with Dr Shelby getting involved trying to break things up right until WM., at a contract signing they both agreed to have the stipulation of either Kane losing his mask or Bryan losing his beard. The match would start with Dr Shelby in the ring & then D-Bryan coming out first with Pete Rose, following that would be Charlie Sheen with his own entrance with The Godfather music & Charlie’s angels, then Kane entering behind, the match would last about 6 mins & the ending with Kane picking up the victory, there D-Bryan tries to escape but its to no avail, Kane catches Bryan, straps him in the chair & he & Charlie Sheen shave his beard with Dr Shelby & Pete Rose watching with little emotion after that D-Bryan sits on the chair in the middle of the ring crying in embarrassment of these events, there Pete Rose awaits, he tries to hug it out but Kane picks him up for another Tombstone which connects, Dr Shelby comes face to face with Kane telling him off but Kane picks him up for a Tombstone which again connects, then Brodus Clay comes out with Cameron & Naomi & dance in the ring along with kids at front while D-Bryan sits on the chair crying.

Divas Championship
Eve vs AJ
Winner: AJ
Time: 6:42

Here would be a storyline for the divas which would be interesting for once, the two biggest divas currently in WWE competing at the Biggest Show of the Year for the Divas Championship, why not do this match, it would also get AJ to have her moment by winning the title in her home state (from what I believe) plus AJ seems to be WWE’s biggest diva right now.

Grudge Match
Randy Orton vs Sheamus
Winner: Randy Orton
Time: 12:11

After Orton’s heel turn at EC he & Sheamus have been neck & neck at each other, Orton has been causing havoc in SD & Sheamus challenges Orotn to a match at WM to gets his revenge & teach Orton a lesson of Respect. Orton would win to give Heel Orton momentum & have him dominate SD.

Unified Tag Team Championship
Rhodescholars vs The Usos vs Primetime Players vs TeamCoBro
Winner: The Usos
Time: 7:33

Just filler to get the Tag Titles on the PPV no longer than 6 mins, it would have someawesome Tag Action & have more people on the card

12 Men Ladder Match with Dolph's MITB On the Line
Dolph Ziggler vs Christian vs Wade Barrett vs Kofi Kingston vs Alberto Del Rio vs R-Truth vs Justin Gabreil vs Heath Slater vs Fandango vs Even Bourne vs Antonio Cesaro vs The Miz
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Time: 17:54

After Ziggler loses is bet of beating Ryback at EC, Ziggler must put his MITB Briefcase on the line in a 12 men Ladder Match along with 11 other superstars, A good way to bring the match back to WM again & have a nice solid opener, Ziggler would retain & cash in later after WM.

Re: WrestleMania XXIX Match Card Predictions

Note: This is NOT what I want to see happen, but this is my prediction of what I think is going to happen.

WWE Championship Match:
The Rock (c) vs. John Cena

- I believe this is simple. The Rock comes back and beats Punk for the championship at the Royal Rumble. Cena wins the Rumble. Writes itself.

The Streak:
CM Punk vs. The Undertaker

- My only issue with this is IF, IF Punk is allegedly supposed to "main event" this Wrestlemania, then how does he get to Taker?

The Rematch:
Triple H w/Stephanie McMahon vs. Brock Lesnar w/ Paul Heyman

- I think contrary to what people believe, Lesnar will win again and officially end Triple H's career at Wrestlemania. It would also not shock me if the Shield get involved in this match considering their "injustice" portion of their characters. I may be wrong, but I have a gut feeling they want to use Lesnar more. They've already used him to face Cena and Triple H, but there are still more possibilities out there, such as Rock (Summerslam rematch possibly) and Ryback. Intuition says Lesnar/Ryback happens at Wrestlemania 30. Could be wrong. Anyway, the Shield don't have a place on the card this year because there is simply nobody for them to face unless an old stable like DX comes back, or they're thrown in Money in the Bank (could happen, but I HIGHLY doubt it, they already seem above even the World Championship) I think by the time the year ends, we are going to see Punk, Lesnar, Shield all tied together in some way with Heyman in some way.

Now this is where I start to differ from some people.

World Heavyweight Championship Match:
Randy Orton (c) vs. Sheamus

- I think this will happen, and I think at the end of this match, Dolph will come out and cash in on Orton and create his Wrestlemania moment. Ziggler will never be a huge star, but he will be a fixture at the upper portion of the card much like Jericho was and this will be his "first Undisputed Champion" thing that he can latch onto forever.

The Big Show vs. Ryback

- Ryback will Shellshock Big Show, creating his personal Wrestlemania moment. This match wont last long, but will ultimately serve its purpose.

WWE Tag Team Championship Match:
Team Hell No, Daniel Bryan & Kane (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler & Big E Lankston w/ AJ

- I believe that Hell No will lose the titles to Rhodes Scholars and regain them between now and Wrestlemania. I believe Daniel/AJ will eventually come full circle and both turn face for sure after this event, reuniting in a new generation Savage and Liz sort of way. AJ gets the feel good moment with Bryan in her home state one year after the whole 18 second catastrophe.

United States Championship:
Antonio Cesaro (c) vs. The Miz

- This feud was rumored to happen and I can see it happening at Wrestlemania

High Flying F*ckery:
Rey Mysterio vs. Sin Cara

- I had to give this one a semi-interesting name.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match:
Alberto Del Rio vs. Kofi Kingston vs. R-Truth vs. Santino Marella vs.
Zack Ryder vs. Wade Barrett vs. Damien Sandow vs. Cody Rhodes

- This could potentially have more or less, but I generally expect the usual mid-card suspects here. I fully expect the ladder match to return this year, unless they have a big tag team match like they did at Wrestlemania 27. If Money in the Bank does happen, expect Barrett to win.

Diva's Championship:
Eve Torres (c) vs. Natalya

- Natalya was the only face diva on the superstars page I remotely thought could be in this spot. Wouldn't rule out an old timer returning and putting over Eve for one night. (Maybe Trish/Lita?)

Annual Pre Show Battle Royal:
For shits and gigs.

Funny. This is actually what my next video is going to be about!

CM Punk - From the Rock to Wrestlemania

Having a think about what will happen with CM Punk with his match against the Rock and where he will go from there. Wondered what others thought about it. Am sure would make some happy but would piss off many but is something I think may happen.

1) CM Punk vs The Rock at Royal Rumble.
The Rock can't win the title as there is no way he'll commit to defending the title on a regular basis and what is the point of a champion who doesn't do anything? This would make more sense than Rock putting over Cena because Cena was already bigger than the WWE title. This would cememnt Punk as a solid champion. I don't see it being a clean victory though - expecting someone to run in and help (shield/ lesnar/ knowing WWE probably fucking AJ)

2) The Undertaker wins the Royal Rumble.
The only people who would pose a reasonable threat to the Undertaker's streak would be Cena, Punk, Ryback, Lesnar or the Rock. 2 of these are part timers so can be ruled out. Ryback to me is too new in the business to be the one ending the streak. Cena would just be pointless. The undertaker winning the rumble would set up Punk vs The undertaker for the WWE title at Wrestlemania.

3) CM Punk vs The Undertaker at Wrestlemania.
CM Punk goes over the Undertaker here. The Undertaker is going to lose at some point and nobody has really been likely to so far. This match would make it seem the biggest chance possible for the Undertaker to lose and I think he will. This would become one of the most memorable moments in Wrestlemania history and if Punk is still heel at the time of the match would make him the most hated on the roster with the potential gloating about doing what nobody else could do before him.

Not saying this is what I would want to happen but is what I see happening. Thoughts?

Boygirl 12-20-2012 06:16 AM

Re: CM Punk - From the Rock to Wrestlemania

I'd like to have it Rock vs. Punk vs. Taker instead.

It will draw BIG TIME and will finally feature CM Punk in the main event. My only problem is the predictability of the bout as Taker must win.
