Re: Top 4 Matches Of Mania 29 Officially Booked Supposedly
Well the Top 4 Matches will include Cena, Rock, Punk, HHH, Lesnar, & Taker. That much is certain.
Rock Vs. Cena II with the WWE Title on the line (Rock beats Punk) is a possibility, but I don't really want it. We saw it once, and it was fine, but now do something different.
We could get Cena Vs. Punk for the title IF Punk gets by Rock at the Rumble. They have really good matches together, but I feel like we've seen it a few too many times. Though I guess they left that window open after their matches at Raw 1000 & Night of Champions ended in draws.
If Cena faces Punk, then that frees up Rock to potentially work with Brock Lesnar, which would be a big match (and would be set up if Lesnar helps Punk defeat him at the Rumble). But again, we've already seen it and I would try to come up with new ways to use Rock & Lesnar and get some fresh pairings.
Lesnar is actually the big question mark though as there are a few guys they will be tempted to put him up against. Taker perhaps? Or HHH again (which I definitely don't want). I guess if they wanted, they could also do Punk Vs. Lesnar, which would be an interesting combo. They could also do Lesnar Vs. Ryback, but honestly, I feel like that ship has sailed. They have had multiple opportunities to set that one up and they never did.
Who is Taker going to defend the streak against? Well to be frank, I don't really care anymore. He is NEVER going to lose, so why even get invested in it beyond "Yay, here's Taker for his one match of the year!". They can't get Sting, so other than that, what else is there that is interesting? I saw him Wrestle Rock at least a 1000 times during the Attitude Era, and Brock about 5 or 6 times in 2002-2003. Maybe they could do Taker/Punk again, but the last time they faced off, it only angered me, so I'd rather not.
And honestly, this is just my opinion, I think Punk is going to face Austin. He has referenced him way too many times in the last 6 months or so to make me think otherwise. It would be huge for sure. I just hope they let Austin be the Austin of old. Now THAT would be something.
Then there is the World Title situation, which quite honestly, I don't view as a big match. I mean, its the World Title. When was the last time that thing mattered? I am thinking Ryback will get into the picture regardless of who is carrying the belt.
So the door is wide open for plenty of possibilities. Nothing awful, and there is potential for some big pairings. We shall see.
