If WM18 was held in US,what difference would it have had on RockHogan crowd reaction?
If WM18 was held in US,what difference would it have had on Rock/Hogan crowd reaction?
Say if it was held in cities like Detroit City,Oklahoma,Chicago,Washington DC,Manchester etc. which has more Rock fans, would the crowd reaction been different?Would people have cheered Rock and booed Hogan?
People were booing Hogan and cheering Rock during the build up to WM 18.People say that WM 18 being in Canada made the difference as Hogan is more adored in Canada than USA.He has a history of performing talk shows, doing radio interviews and charity stuff there.
Some people also say that the crowd at WM 18 answered the question of who will go down in the history as the greatest and rightfully they put Hogan over Rock.Rock/Hogan at WM 18 itself was booked to be the match that would determine who will go down in the history as the greatest.
Say if it hadn't been in Canada but United States and say if Hogan would've been booed or Rock would've been more cheered than Hogan, would people have put Rock over Hogan?I still think to this day that if face Rock vs face Hogan had happened in USA,both would have been equally cheered and respected by the crowd.
Some people also say that Rock left for Hollywood because he got booed at WM 18,he thought people had turned their back on him after doing so much for the company, would've Rock left for Hollywood if he hadn't been booed? And if Rock wouldn't have left for Hollywood, people wouldn't have turned on him at Summerslam 2002 thus he wouldn't have turned heel and we wouldn't have seen his Hollywood persona which in my opinion is one of the greatest heel gimmicks.
Just like Montreal Screw Job,WM 18 had a huge impact on the WWE,some positive, some negative.

Would have been much closer to 50/50 in any other city IMO. Hogan was always going to get cheered though.

id say 50.50 would be a safe bet, thats what they were looking for originally, in the build up most places were solidly behind rock, but hogan is hogan and is practically god in american wrestling

I am from NY.My friends and I went to Skydome just to witness this match. Some of my friends wanted to cheer The Rock while others wanted to cheer Hogan. But as soon as Hogan's music hit,all of us started cheering wildly for Hogan. We forgot Hogan was the heel while Rock was supposed to be the face.
I have seen some of your posts, you have an obsession with proving Rock as the greatest. You mention how Rock was cheered more during the build up.I also remember the Raw after WM18,Rock was getting booed and couldn't even finish his catchphrase 'FINALLY THE ROCK etc.He was getting booed even after trying to get a cheap pop by mentioning the name of city's name.
I believe Hogan would have been cheered in any city including 'the cities that have more Rock fans'.You are going to disagree with what I said but I think Jim Ross said it best-"Hogan wasn't cheered because of nostalgia,he was cheered out of respect."I don't think even SCSA would have been cheered.

It woulda been 50/50, and from the commentary throughout that match, it seemed that's what the WWE was hoping for. But when 95% of the crowd was losing their shit for Hogan, and JR was trying to talk about a "mixed reaction, many in the crowd chanting for The Rock, quite frankly many in the crowd chanting for Hogan", it was obvious that they didn't expect it to be THAT one-sided.
And anywhere besides Toronto or Montreal, it probably would've been.

The Hogan comeback was really over (in 2002), more so than what anyone expected. So he always going to get cheered loudly.

hopefully he will lose the briefcase before WM, I still think this is just another way of Vince to laugh at all of you.

RAW after WM 18 was in Montreal Canada so that's why he got booed and I said what if WM 18 was held in States.
BTW I agree with you Hogan would have been cheered regardless, but any reason as to why people booed Hogan and cheered Rock during WM build up?although boos for Hogan weren't loud and he got cheers as well.

I didn't actually go to any of the pre-WM shows but from what I saw on television,Rock was cheered more.I am a huge Hulkamaniac but even I was on the Rock's side.On pure promos and segments, only one or two people can stand toe-to-toe with the Rock.I didn't feel like I am a Hulkamaniac on those interactions but when the match happened, something magical happened to all of us back then at the Skydome.I couldn't find it to boo the man I have cheered against Andre and Warrior.
