Re: Major PPV to be held in the U.K. next year
The WWE need to try something, something different and probably have considered trying another major PPV in the UK to try and boost sales. Something unusual, they probably feel that they've got a wrestler (or will have such) credible enough to pull a large enough crowd in, and that even with a 70k seater stadium (so what.. consider the seats lost for a 'tron but the floor could counter that lost) they'd still manage to sell that out. Only a Wrestlemania would be able to do that in the US, where as I'm almost certain they'd shift at least 65k worth of seats. Whether that'd be achieveable in Cardiff, or whether they would definitely have to locate it to London with Wembley Stadium remains to be seen (could Cardiff accommodate nearly 60k worth of people who would visit?).
I'd definitely see them considering it, the UK crowd is always hot for the WWE and something like a Major PPV, along with the possibility of Wade Barrett being involved, could definitely get a buzz going that would interest the WWE.
The only problem I can see with that report is that I'm almost certain Wrestlemania XXX will be at Madison Sqaure Gardens, not Los Angeles.
The main problem though with having it in the UK is the time delay; when we last had a main PPV (Summerslam 1992) the internet and mobile phones just did not exist, and it'd ruin the US domestic; after all, they'd have to show it starting between noon and 2pm in the US to allow the UK crowd a atart at 7/8pm. Whilst this shouldn't be a big problem as it's a Sunday, it could cause some problems and they definitely wouldn't be able to do what they did at Summerslam 1992 because the domestic sales would simply bomb.
