Team Foley vs. Team Ziggler (Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match)

In the three weeks since WWE Champion CM Punk and Mick Foley hand-selected the members of their Survivor Series teams, both factions have undergone drastic changes. But now, just days away from WWE’s fall classic, the lineups for this Sunday’s battle of attrition are finalized … thanks to the WWE Universe.

Via a RAWactive poll on Nov. 12, WWE fans voted in The Miz, originally a member of Team Punk, as the last member of Team Foley.

The compelling, unforeseen addition of The Awesome One to The Hardcore Legend’s team was only the latest in a series of head-spinning developments surrounding this Sunday’s Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match.

The unit originally known as Team Punk lost its captain when Raw Managing Supervisor Vickie Guerrero informed The Second City Saint he would be defending the WWE Title at Survivor Series in a Triple Threat Match against John Cena and Ryback. (MATCH PREVIEW) In the same breath, Team Foley lost its insatiable monster, Ryback.

Even before that, however, Team Punk was in disarray. On the Nov. 5 Raw, The Awesome One informed Punk’s agent, Paul Heyman, that he wanted no part of the WWE Champion’s squad. At that point still thinking Punk would be a team captain come this Sunday, Heyman sought out the services of Wade Barrett. The bare-knuckle brawler agreed to join in exchange for a yet-to-be-named favor from Heyman.

Once this Sunday’s WWE Title Match became known to all, The Queen Diva moved Dolph Ziggler into position as Team Punk’s new captain — a development that delighted The Showoff. Meanwhile, the rest of the former Team Punk — Alberto Del Rio and The Rhodes Scholars — remained intact.

Yet, still at a five-on-four disadvantage was Team Foley, a veritable team of WWE all-stars Randy Orton, Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston and WWE Tag Team Champions Team Hell No. Finally, on the Nov. 12 Raw, Foley’s fifth member was decided in an interactive RAWactive poll. The Miz, who requested to be added to the ballot, won in a landslide, garnering more Twitter hashtag votes than Zack Ryder and Santino Marella. (WATCH)

Proving himself, perhaps astonishingly, to be a team player, The Awesome One then went on to team with Kane and defeat Cody Rhodes & Damien Sandow. Though the victory appears to have created, or intensified, the ill will between championship partners Kane & Daniel Bryan, the newfound aggressiveness displayed by The Miz assuredly heartened Team Foley supporters.

How will the many revisions to these two teams of A-level Superstars — including a noteworthy defection — play out this Sunday on pay-per-view? Will The Miz be able to play nice with his new partners, including the man who unseated him as Intercontinental Champion, “The Wildcat” Kofi Kingston? Is The Awesome One bringing any valuable insider information from Team Ziggler to the table?

And what of the other main event-caliber Superstars involved? “The Mexican Aristocrat” and “The Showoff” bested Kingston & Orton on the Nov. 12 Raw; can they carry that momentum in WWE’s fall classic? Where does the seeming loner, Wade Barrett, fit into the mix?

This Sunday on pay-per-view, the WWE Universe will lay be treated to one of the longest-running traditions in sports-entertainment: the Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team Match. With such huge star power and so many volatile elements, the only thing that can be counted on is that the match will have major implications for the WWE’s top tier heading into the close of 2012. What the hell is the point of Foley being anywhere near this match now? I mean on RAW he was focused on Punk still. It may as well be Team Miz vs Team Ziggler at this point with Miz's recent turn being a big selling point. Because in all honesty Foley has no issue with Ziggler at all, they should have had a segment of some kind. Perhaps even an attack. Just to give a logical reason for Foley to be there.

I'm hoping Ziggler can at least win something.

True, Ziggler 2 win beats Miz. Ziggler-Foley TLC match would be great or Ziggler-Miz feud would be better

This is a total clusterfuck of a match but luckily I'm a huge mark for the Survivor Series concept so cannot wait for this match, which I expect to be the highlight of the show for me. As for who will be winning, for me I'd have to say a Team Foley win.

True, would've put Rock-HHH-Lesnar in. Would be 10 times better Team HHH-Lesnar elimination match. I'm getting this for free, what bout u?

This feels so cobbled together now since they changed the line up the other week. If it leads to Foley becoming GM for some reason (btw I'm only 10 mins into this weeks Raw) over Vickie I'll be happy. It'll be a damn good match most likely just hope they get enough time on the card...

Only if RAW GM at stake this Sunday's elimination match would be great. Just like Austin-Bischoff SS 03

Re: Team Foley vs Team Ziggler

Since apparently it's time for Miz to be the babyface star, I can't see him losing already. It's probably going to come down to Miz vs Ziggler and end with Ziggler eating a skull-crushing finale to lose. I don't think WWE will have it ending with anything more than a 1-on-1 and as a result I don't think anyone in either of the tag teams will be the last, WWE doesn't give a shit about Barrett and while Kofi may be IC champ, he's not going to be getting the winning pin. So that leaves Miz/Orton vs Ziggler/ADR as the final 2. If Miz is the last one on Team Foley, then Ziggler will take the pin. If Orton is the last one on Team Foley, then he'll go over ADR with an RKO OUT OF NOWHERE. Just what I think will happpen.

If I could have things my way, it would end with the entire Team Ziggler vs Miz with Barrett getting the pin, but I know better than to expect that. :)
