Official PPV Buys For Summerslam. MITB, & NOC Reported By WWE
http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/W...le_66326.shtml
Quote:
WWE reported Thursday official PPV buys and revenue totals for Third Quarter 2012. The revenue total was $16.3 million, as compared to $15.8 million in the prior-year quarter (3.1 percent increase), mainly due to the strength of Summerslam.
WWE reported that overall PPV buys were up 13 percent, mainly due to Summerslam drawing 358,000 buys; the smaller margin of 3 percent revenue growth was due to the timing of WrestleMania revenue from the prior quarter. Last year, WWE's third quarter was boosted by delayed recording of Mania-related revenue.
"Buys for (Summerslam) increased 21 percent from the prior year quarter, demonstrating its creative strength and audience appeal," WWE reported. "Offsetting this performance, buys for WrestleMania, a prior period event, declined 63,000 primarily due to timing. On a year-to-date basis, buys for this premiere event remained 8 percent above the prior year period."

Punk holds the belt for the year. Business is the highest since 2008.

Re: Official PPV Buys For Summerslam. MITB, & NOC Reported By WWE
MITB buys being down doesn't surprise me, not much buzz at all going into the show, whereas last year they had a hell of a lot with the Punk/Cena feud
Summerslam buys going up is good news, should help persuade them to extend Lesnars deal post Mania
NoC increasing is good news, interesting that the 2 PPVs where buys have gone up included Cena in the WWE title match
Overall good results from WWE, will be interesting to what happens in the next quarter as the effects of 3 hour RAWs will probably be starting to come through in PPV buys

So Night of Champions had the biggest possible match they could put on from the full-time roster with the biggest two stars in the company and it drew 189,000 buys
LOL

Re: Official PPV Buys For Summerslam. MITB, & NOC Reported By WWE
Pretty impressive that MITB was only down 7000 buys considering the massive hype the 2011 show had. Punk and Cena deserve their share of the credit for Extreme Rules and Summerslam, though not as much as Brock, based on the fact the PPV's without Brock since Mania have had increased buys cept for MITB being slightly down. Any reasonable person would conclude that Extreme Rules and Summerslam wouldve had higher overall buys than 2011 even without Brock, though not near as high, but still higher.
