The ratings are on a rapid downward spiral, but analyze this:
Wrestlemania 28 buys up from last year
Extreme Rules buys up from last year
Over the Limit buys up from last year
No Way out/June PPV buys up from last year
MITB buys up from last year
Summerslam buys up from last year
Night of Champions buys up from last year

Since Wrestlemania every single PPV has squared better than last year. Why is this?

I'd have to look at the domestic buys because it could be due to more international markets, but if domestic buys are up...

WM 28, Extreme Rules and Summerslam have to be credited to The Rock and Brock Lesnar, respectively. Over the Limit could be credited to the old evil boss vs. 'blue collar' babyface thing - always performs well on PPV. MITB 2011 was so superb, perhaps people were influenced to buy this year's version, or maybe the AJ/Bryan/Punk angle inspired people. I think it did well in the ratings. Night of Champions is a mystery.

Or maybe CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio are bigger PPV draws than we realise. John Cena is obviously proven.

WM28 - Rock/Cena

ER - Lesnar/Cena

Summerslam - Lesnar/HHH.

Those 3 are result of bigger attractions than the year before.

OTL/NOC/MITB - The buyrate is still not good/horrendous, it just that last year did EVEN lower than that.

NWO - Again, last year did a terrible number. This year had a Show/Vince/Cena/Ace angle which drew big on TV and had some investment.

PPVs are up a little bit, but besides WM28 which did an all time record for pro wrestling on PPV, and ER/Summerslam which did good/decent for 2012. It's more a result of how low the numbers have fallen in previous years.
