Do Triple Threats/ 4 ways ect draw less then singles matches

I remember reading a little while back from a poster that WM29 needs to have a one on one match as its main event because there wouldn't be as much appeal with anything else. To my knowledge most Wrestlmanias have had one on one events, exceptions being WM1 where they hadn't figured out the format, WM16 which I recall not being very liked and WM20 but that was brilliant but whatever.

I can understand the appeal of a simple, classic one on one scenario where there aren't any screwy variables (X finished Y but then Z got the pin on Y) but on the other hand putting a bunch of people awesome people together seems like an awesome alternate idea. Do viewing audiences care?

Basically it just raises the question as to whether there can be some kind of Rock/ Lesnar/ Cena/ Punk match at WM29 or would it be better if it was a singles match and why?

One on one is always the biggest money match. When you try to appeal to a much more wide audience with a big event like WM, it should always be presented as a sport or competitive event. Like Rock/Cena was presented in terms of the groups of fans and their history. If you do a 3-ways or 4-ways, it can be bigger star power in the match but it's just a gimmick after all. Of course that there are exceptions to every rule, in this case with Hogan/T/Piper/Orndorff, Rock/Sock/Evolution, Rock/Foley/Show/HHH etc. But one personality against another is always what's creates the biggest overall interest.

Thats a very good question. Personally i enjoy triple-threats every now and then, i actually think they do draw cause something different from the usual one on one is kind interesting for a change. However sometimes it has to be one on one. For example, Punk vs Bryan vs Kane i'm sure was a bigger draw (for casual fans) than Punk vs Bryan alone. However Cena vs Punk vs Show was a disappointment when compared to a singles Cena vs Punk match.

I love one-on-one matches. I confess I started to lose interest in the product when they started to do Triple Threats on regular basis. Especially at big ppvs.

One on One are always bigger draws. Only few exceptions are WM 16 with the fatal four way as the biggest draw and WM 20 with the Triple threat as the biggest draw.

Well, the Royal rumble leads to a new individual being made @ MANIA, so I figure the ME should be nothing more than a 1 on 1 match @ MANIA unless otherwise. But when you look @ PPV's now, and see how not much build is there and they spice it up by adding individuals who will draw peeps to the match like say the fatal 4 way @ Over the Limit? Then yeah. I don't think anybody cared for the supposed Sheamus vs Rio first match up that got re booked.

Not really sure tbh.

I can see a Triple THreat happening at WM29 with Rock, Punk & Cena

For Wrestlemania I suppose one on one matches should main event and would draw the most, especially if the feud has been hyped well. But for other PPVs it can increase interest as it breaks away from the norm in terms of what happens on other PPVs.

Historically no but currently probably

One on One is best way to draw, adding a 3rd attraction with a referee/enforcer can make it bigger though.
