Default Re: Rebook a WrestleMania

Wrestlemania 2000 was definitely a misfire during a very hot time for the WWF with no single matches and a really weak main event. A card resembling more closely the Backlash 2000 one would have made for a sure fire top tier Mania

WRESTLEMANIA 2000

WWF Title: Triple H (c) w/McMahons vs The Rock

The obvious main event that everyone wanted. Vince turns on The Rock at the NWO ppv in a match against Big Show and is in his son in laws corner. Rock gets his big Mania title win and avenges Foley's retirement.

Kane and Rikishi vs DX

Same as it was booked, Pete Rose shenanigans and all. This was a fine blow off match to go before the main event and get Rikishi further up the card.

IC Title: Chris Benoit (c) vs Chris Jericho

These two had a legendary fued in 2000 and it would begin here in both men's mania debut. Benoit can cheat to go over so the series can continue

Kurt Angle vs Big Show

The Backlash 2000 match moved up a month before with the same story proceeding. Angle can lose his euro continental title in the 2/3 falls match at NWO instead and Show can go into his comedy schtick shortly after as well. Showster coming out to real American here would be one of the funniest moments in Mania history. Kurt can cheat with a low blow and pin the big man with his feet on the ropes following an angle slam, thus getting a big win at his first mania and lots of heat. Show crushes him with a choke slam afterwards.

Tag Team Titles Triple Threat Ladder Match: Dudley's (c) vs Hardyz vs Edge and Christian

Nothing to change here. Amazing match

European Title: Eddie Guerrero (c) vs Val Venis w/ Special Ref Chyna

These two both had similar lothario gimmicks and could have had a solid match. Chyna is made ref as both could have been making unsuccessful advances towards her leading up to this. Guerrero wins and Chyna joins him afterwards

Women's title bra and panties match: The Kat (c) w/Mae Young vs Terri w/Fabulous Moolah

Just a filler match but it would get the women's title on the ppv

Hardcore Title Six Man Challenge: Crash Holly (c) vs Hardcore Holly vs Tazz vs Al Snow vs Steve Blackman vs Perry Saturn

Would probably be a pretty cool hardcore brawl with a lot less filler than the overstuff battle royal we did get. Crash retains against all odds

Light Heavyweight title: Dean Malenko (c) vs Essa Rios w/Lita

This match gets all the titles on the ppv and both men always had nice chemistry. Malenko taps Rios in a short match for the win.

16 man tag team battle royal: Too Cool vs The APA vs Test and Albert vs Godfather and D'lo Brown vs Big Bossman and Bull Buchanon vs Viscera and Mideon vs Kai en Tai vs Headbangers

Winner is no. 1 contenders for the tag titles in an opener which gets everyone on the card. Too Cool were very over at the time and get the upset win last eliminating the bigger team of Test and Albert

What do you all think of this rebooking?

Default Re: Rebook a WrestleMania

WRESTLEMANIA XVIII

Icon vs Icon
Hulk Hogan vs The Rock

I'd keep the main event as it was, the only difference being that I'd put it on last. Following this match the fans were exhausted and didn't really invest themselves in the title match. To repair that mistake I would re-schedule the PPV line up so that the big, monumental match was on last.

WWF Championship Match
Triple H (Champion) vs 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin vs The Undertaker

I always wanted to see Undertaker in a multi-man match at Wrestlemania, just to see the streak in genuine jeopardy. Facing two of the biggest names in WWF history, this would be a great challenge to 'the streak' and could easily be one of the best WM title matches in history.

Booker T & RVD vs Edge & Christian

I like the idea of reluctant tag teams, and I'd have the team of babyface Edge teaming with heel Christian to take on the WCW/ECW invaders. This would be a hangover from the Invasion angle and would see Edge & Christian overcoming their opponents, positioning them as the #1 contenders. Like Angle/Benoit, I picture their disfucntional team having some real issues.

Intercontinental Championship Match
William Regal (Champion) vs Chris Jericho

A chance for Jericho to show off his brilliant wrestling ability against another skilled technician. This would be a classic IC title match with Regal retaining through dastardly, underhand methods.

Tag Team Triangle Ladder Match
The Hardy Boys (Champions) vs Dudley Boys vs The Outsiders

Scott Hall was one of the WWF's Ladder Match pioneers. I'd introduce the Outsiders to the Triangle Ladder Match, a sure fire way to get them over with the WWF fans.

No DQ Match
Kane vs 'Nature Boy' Ric Flair

In contrast to the technically driven opening match, this would be an all out brawl. Short and bloody, I'd book Kane to lay waste to Ric Flair, battering him within an inch of his life. I enjoyed Undertaker's match with Flair and see this match as being pretty similar. I'd book Kane to get the win in a ten minute battle.

Kurt Angle vs Mr. Perfect

Mr. Perfect was back in the WWF at the time and I'd have used him to battle Kurt Angle in the opening bout at Wrestlemania. These two were both fantastic workers and I'd like to think that they'd open the PPV with a decent, hard hitting, fast paced battle. I'd book Angle to get the win but the two would shake hands at the end of the match, indicating a new found respect for each other.

Default Re: Rebook a WrestleMania

Wrestlemania 23

CM Punk vs Kennedy
A solid opener. Two great talkers, they could've put on a decent enough feud to build up to a Wrestlemania show down. I'd book Punk to get the win in a 10 minute match.

Extreme Rules Match
The Hardys vs Sabu & Rob Van Dam
This would be an extreme rules type match - plenty of high spots and extreme action. I'd book Sabu & RVD to win this, establishing them as a tag team in the WWE. They were a decent team in ECW and I'd have them showing off their stuff against the WWE's Team Extreme. This would be a relatively short match - maybe 10 minutes - but would competed under no DQ rules.

Randy Orton vs Edge
This match seemed such an obvious choice for Wrestlemania that I can't believe it wasn't booked. Following the break up of Rated RKO, these two clashing in a heel vs heel match would've been white hot and could've done great things for both of their careers. Such a shame it never happened. I'd give Edge the win, retaining his Wrestlemania streak for a future streak vs streak with Undertaker. I'd give this match a lot of hype leading up to Wrestlemania, and would book it as a solid 25 minute match, giving both men the opportunity to tell a story and really excell.

Tag Team Championship Match
Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas
Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas were a great tag team. Paul London & Brian Kendrick were in the midst of an epic title run at this point but I'd have booked Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas to take the titles from them at Wrestlemania. Building a tag team division around Paul London & Brian Kendrick, Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas, Sabu & Rob Van Dam and The Hardys would have made for some exciting moments, I think.

World Championship Match
Batista (Champion) vs MVP
This would have a genuine sporting event feel to it, complete with weigh ins, press conferences and training vignettes. Both of these guys had an authentic sports star quality to them and I'd build on that to create an electric title win for MVP, taking the title in about 15 minutes.

Umaga vs Bobby Lashley
The Hair vs Hair thing brought a lot of publicity to the event. I'd go with it, despite not really enjoying it.

Shawn Michaels vs Chris Benoit
A one on one showdown between two of my favoruites from that era. This could be the show stealing match and would definitely have catapulted Benoit back into the title scene. I'd book a Benoit win and a 30 minute match, giving them all the time they need to top HBK/Angle.

WWE Championship Match
John Cena (Champion) vs The Undertaker
Yep, I'd book this. As much as I liked Cena/HBK, I'd go with Undertaker surprising everybody and using his Royal Rumble win to defect to Raw and challenge the franchise star to a showdown. I'd book Undertaker to win, obviously, but would have him shaking hands with Cena at the end of the match (hopefully to stop people hating on Cena so much).

WM 16: Triple H vs Rock: WWF Title
WM 18: Triple H vs Austin: WWF Title (Don't think I would of wanted to see Triple H win though.)
WM 21: Triple H vs Randy Orton vs Batista, special Referee is Ric Flair: World title
WM 21: Eddie vs Cena: WWE Title. (Personal bias here. Couldn't stand JBL at the time. I didn't find him to be credible)
WM 25: Cena vs Edge vs Hardy: World title
WM 27: Cena vs CM Punk: WWE title
WM 27: Edge vs Christian: World title
WM 19: HBK vs Jericho would of been for the World title. It was both the better and bigger match on that card than Raw's World title match. There would of been no point in Triple H vs Booker, which is a good thing.
