Re: Rebook a WrestleMania

Tito Santana vs Rick Martel
A grudge match built their past rivalries. I enjoyed both of these guys as a kid, and think that they could've done better if they'd been given better storylines and angles. Building on the collapse of their old tag team, this match could get a lot of heat from the old school fans - and given enough time they could put on a fantastic opening match. I'd give these guys fifteen minutes and tell them to tell a real story in the ring (as they were both great storytellers). I'd give the win to Martel but have the pair shake hands at the end, setting up the possibility of a reunion.

#1 Contender For Tag Team Championship
Demolition vs Legion of Doom
A short, stiff tag team match pitting two of the most dominant teams in WWF history together. This would be maybe ten minutes long, but full of stiff, brutal action from two of the toughest teams on the planet. Legion of Doom get the win, leading to a possible rematch and then championship push for LOD. Oh, and they'd definitely ride their motorcycles to the ring!

Intercontinental Title Match
Mr. Perfect (IC Champion) vs British Bulldog
Give the right person to work with, Davey Boy Smith could put on one Hell of a match. He was great at being led. With Curt Hennig as his opponent, I think that Smith could've pulled a five star out of the bag with this. Hennig could really sell - and having him up against a guy with Bulldog's physique and strength could lead to some really exciting spots. Obviously Hennig would wear him down and the two would begin a more technical match, giving him the perfect opportunity to show what he'd learned from the Hart boys and prove himself as a sound wrestler rather than just a big guy. After a soild fifteen minutes, I'd book Perfect to retain bu some kind of screwjob, but there would definitely be blood and a rematch would seem inevitable.

Nightstick / Cattle Prod on a Pole Match
Big Boss Man vs The Mountie
This is kind of a filler match but I think it could be fun. I'd have the match early in the card, with Boss Man getting a win after about four or five minutes. Nothing spectacular. This would lead to a cat and mouse chase between the two which would be intermitently shown thoughout the rest of the PPV (between matches we'd see Boss Man pursuing him through the stands etc). These two were pretty much comedy characters anyway, so I'd use them as filler.

Tag Team Title Match
The Hart Foundation (Champions) vs The Rockers
The two best tag teams of the era would square off at Wrestlemania! This would be a fifteen minute match with plenty of action and the surprise ending of The Rocker's getting the win and taking the Tag Team Championships. They always deserved it and this would've been their moment of glory.

The Undertaker vs "Rowdy" Roddy Piper
Let's start the streak off with a bang and get The Undertaker doing what Hogan had never done; getting a clean win over Roddy Piper. Imagine how good the promos would be building up to this match! Imagine Piper invading The Funeral Parlour and The Undertaker invading Piper's Pit! It would be awesome to see how Piper would have reacted to The Dead Man's mind games. This would've been a classic match. I'd book this as a fifteen minute all out battle, with 'Taker getting the inevitable win.

Grudge Match
Hulk Hogan vs Jake "The Snake" Roberts
Another rivalry where the build up would be phenomenal. Jake Roberts was the best heel in the world in late 1991. I'd have booked him playing that same psychotic asshole, only battling the ultimate babyface, Hulk Hogan. Imagine the promos! Imagine the intensity that both men would bring to this match. Hogan was still white hot at the time, and Roberts was doing the best work of his career. This would be the non-title main event - the big angle leading up to Wrestlemania. And, just to shock the fans, I'd have Jake Roberts getting the win. Imagine an epic, bloody, twenty minute battle between these two, brought to a finish by a DDT onto a steel chair and Jake Roberts getting the win. The heat on him would be immense, and a Summerslam rematch between the two would catapult Roberts into the main event with great momentum.

WWF Championship / Career Ending Match
Ultimate Warrior (WWF Champion) vs 'Macho Man' Randy Savage
The true main event of Wrestlemania VII! Warrior agrees to give Savage the title shot but only if he is willing to risk his career. Savage, under the bad advice of Sensational Sherri, agrees. This would've been the first non-Hogan main event and I think that these two were the perfect guys to pull it off. This would've been a dream Wrestlemania closer - imagine Warrior retaining, leaving the ring beneath fireworks, and then the heartbreaking moment where Savage is alone and broken. To close the show, Elzabeth and Savage's golden moment and then fireworks. It would've been incredible.

I remember me and some college associates were pissed off beyond belief when Cena won. The room cleared out fairly quick.

Yeah, I think that's the most upset I've ever been about the finish of a wrestling match.

Re: Rebook a WrestleMania

Shawn Michaels vs Marty Jannetty
This match should've happened here but Jannetty was under house arrest. In an ideal world, this would've opened Wrestlemania 8 with a bang and we'd have seen something pretty damn explosive. I wish this match had happened when the angle was still fresh. The 1993 version just didn't have the heat. I'd book this as a solid fifteen minute match with Shawn getting a sneaky win.

Legion of Doom (Tag Team Champions) vs Money Inc.
I loved both of these teams at the time. Money Inc were just so good as heels. They definitely kept the tag team division afloat in 1992/1993, when practically every team on roster was dropped and replaced (goodbye Natural Disasters, Nasty Boys, Beverly Brothers, Bushwhackers and hello Smoking Gunns, Steiner Brothers and Headshrinkers). This match would've been great to see at Wrestlemania, especially if Money Inc got a dirty win. Blatantly, this would be a fifteen minute match with plenty of action and some great high spots.

Sid Justice vs Tatanka
I really enjoyed Tatanka's push back in 1992. I loved his undefeated streak and think that it would've been cool to give him a big feud and big win over a main event star. Sid Justice had great charisma and was a brilliant character, and would've been a great foil for the fresh, plucky rookie Tatanka. I'd book this match to last maybe ten minutes and would have Tatanka getting a clever victory of his giant opponent.

Owen Hart vs Rick Martel
These two were great workers, and I think a rivalry between them would've really allowed Owen Hart to show off his awesome skills. I'd like to see this match go about ten minutes and I'd give the win to Rick Martel. I imagine that these two could've had some brilliant matches.

Sgt. Slaughter vs Jim Duggan
I preferred Sgt. Slaughter as an anti-American heel. I think they should've feuded in 1992 - perhaps Slaughter could revert to his old school ways. This is pure filler, either way. The dud to make the other matches look better.

Intercontinental Championship
Roddy Piper (Intercontinental Champion) vs Bret "Hit Man" Hart

Same as it was. Couldn't have booked it better.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage vs The Undertaker
As much as I'd like to have Roberts on the card, I know that he was unhappy and wanted to leave at this point so I'd give him a bit of a rest and have him staying aligned with The Undertaker, accompanying him to the ring for his match with Savage. Following his white hot feud with Roberts, Savage still has unfinished business with The Dead Man. It's a brutal, bitter war. I'd give them about twenty minutes, the same as Hogan/Flair, and have this as the big angle leading into the event (off of the back of the incredible Jake Roberts / Savage feud). Obviously, Undertaker wins this match. Sorry, Savage. After the bell, with Jake Roberts and The Undertaker double teaming Savage, the old legend Ultimate Warrior returns to save his ass! The guy who retired him last year has come to rescue him! Unreal! They clean house together, disposing of Taker and Roberts, and then shake hands and embrace, like old friends. This leads to a final match for Jake Roberts, when he teams with Taker to take on the Ultimate Maniacs. From there, Savage & Warrior go after the tag team gold.

WWF Championship Match
'Nature Boy' Ric Flair (WWF Champion) vs Hulk Hogan

The match that should have happened at Wrestlemania. This would've been great - the two greatest of all time (at the time) squaring off on the grandest stage of them all. This would be an epic and awesome encounter, twnety minutes of classic, old school action. Flair loses by DQ but Hogan kicks his ass after the bell. He flees the ring with his championship belt. Hogan poses, leaves the company to become an actor not long after. Yep. That's what I'd have done.
