Hacksaw was a formidable opponent, I don't think you can blame Austin's defeat on Hogan. Hacksaw was just the better man on the day.

Those were made by the WWE. They're not fan made.

i always find it funny how ppl clame it should have been austin hogan at wm18, as if their in the business and know what went down and they have proof.. please, maybe in 98 when austin was king of the world, but by 02 he was a shell of what he was, he was getting stale, he knew it, the company did, he took his ball because he knew he wasnt the top guy anymore, the rock was

plus I feel as if character-wise , Rock/Hogan blend in together much better
True. Austin marks are on here acting like it would be 1998 or 1999 Austin vs. Hogan. in 2002, Rock was the bigger star. Rock vs. Hogan, in 2002, was a match between the 2 biggest names in wrestling and the biggest match in wrestling. Just like in 2011, Rock vs. Cena, not Austin vs. Cena, was the biggest match in wrestling. Also, it was originally planned to be Rock vs. Hogan in 2002, not Austin vs. Hogan. WWE knew who their biggest stars were. I bet if it was Austin vs. Hogan the buys would be lower than Rock vs. Hogan.

I'm glad they went for Rock/Hogan

The biggest star of the 80s and 90s against the current biggest star

Austin was a shell in 2002 having not recovered from the failure that was his heel run.

Rock/Hogan was bigger and provided a much better match in terms of quality that Austin/Hogan would have

If it was politics which stopped Hogan/Austin then thank god for politics

I remember hearing in 2004 Rock was throwing out idea's for WrestleMania 21 and he mentioned Shawn Michaels, at the time Vince was butthurt so he brushed all the suggestions off and Rock's contract ran out which led to the break down in their relationship for a while.

Pardon me if I'm wrong but I think the point was that Rock wouldn't work with somebody that he didn't like for something in the past (Michaels at the time), and the parallel was being drawn with Austin refusing to work with someone he didn't like for something in the past (Hogan)

from what know in 2005 Rock did an interview with WWE where they ask Dwayne The Rock Johnson about having a match with Shawn micheals and he said he doesn't want anything to do with him. right now they might forget about it but back then Rock would not work with Shawn micheals just like Austin doesn't want to work with Hogan.

don't know why you see ROck vs Hogan are better, better in term of a match but for builtup simply Rock/Hogan way below Austin 3:16 vs Hulkamania. Hulk Hogan the guy who put wrestling on the Map and Stone Cold Steve Austin the guy who revolutionize Monday night. WM18 might not fit but WM19 or above is well fit could play everything perfectly, this could drag 2 PPV involve with Vince. Vince could do work shoot on how Austin walked out on him and can't trust him.

Really? I'm gonna have to do some research of my own to find out whether this is true or not.

My calculations show that you are indeed correct.
