Divas match =
Half the crowd rushes to the bathroom or nacho stand.
Other half mentally whack off.

I don't think it was that kind of pop, i think people are actuall interested in Eve.

It is a bit disconcerting, though. I mean this match had buildup and a decent story leading up to it and had segments through the night and the weeks prior leading to this match. All that and a good match and the crowd still doesn;t give a crap about the divas. What else can they do? You had a good story, a good match and a good crowd.
Man, it seems the last hope for a diva match with a good crowd might be AJ vs Eve.

Re: Crowd reaction to Divas match.
Funny how so many people act like WWE is being disrespectful for not pushing the Diva's divison, than the smarks are chanting "boring" or whatever the hell they were doing today during the Diva's match.
If the fans continue to chant "boring" during the Diva's matches than why should WWE show them? Their out there doing their best, if the fans don't care than why should WWE?

Re: Crowd reaction to Divas match.
"They just need a storyline! They just need time to work! The crowd will learn to like them!"
Yeah, no. Female wrestling doesn't draw in the United States. You can argue all you want, but the proof is in the pudding. It's not just Boston, it's not just WWE, it's not Layla or Eve. People don't care about Shimmer, or the Knockouts or anyone else either. It's not because they can't work, it's not about the work. It's the whole package & presentation & years of that presentation. Divas are now associated with a negative stigma & since WWE is the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, that means that female wrestling is now associated as a whole with a negative stigma. Nothing in the near future is going to change that. It would take a lot of time, money, resources & luck to slowly & gradually try to shift the mentality over the years & honestly, at this point, that's just a bad business decision because it requires too much. The damage is done.

the crowd was almost equally dead for sheamus and del rio. also, half of the punk and cena match the crowd was snoring.

Re: Crowd reaction to Divas match.
The Knockouts were constantly the highest rated matches/segments in TNA not too long ago despite the roster they had. The problems is a) they aren't in the same league as Lita, Trish, Victoria, Jazz, Gail Kim, Molly, Jacquelyn, Kong, etc. and b)it's the WWE's fault for not making the people care about the division despite their lack of in-ring talent. Just abolish it already.

Re: Crowd reaction to Divas match.
It was a good match for a divas match. I'm also glad to see Eve as champ again.

Re: Crowd reaction to Divas match.
The Divas match was decent for what I saw of it. I admit I went to get a snack during it but it didn't seem too bad when I got back to the PPV. Eve and Layla are probably the most improved Divas behind Michelle McCool that came from the Diva Search.

Re: Crowd reaction to Divas match.
Like most people in attendance and on this forum, I had no effing interest in the match either. Like most people, I went to take a piss break. Fortunately (though unfortunately at the time) I came back just before the match started. But just because I had zero interest in the match doesn't mean I didn't sit there amazed at the beauty and simplicity of that match. It had a kind of old school vibe to it. Just slow, methodical really get the crowd into it. Well,I guess just me and some other people on this site.
It's amazing. I guess build up doesn't really play an important role in a match. I just saw those two started to grapple and I was instantly hooked. The part that really had me invested in it was when Eve extended her hand for the shake but then kicked Layla. Talk about establishing your character not through words on the mic but through your actions in the ring. Through your wrestling.
And Eve working the ribs and the ending? B-e-autiful. There was no need to have multiple finisher kick outs, none of that. Eve vs Layla, now that's what you call wrestling!
I'm glad to see that they're so many others out there who enjoyed this match as well. I've been saying for months how much Eve has improved as a wrestler and I've only noticed it since she returned, but Layla is fantastic in the ring. You put two good workers together and you most likely get a good match and that's what we saw.
Kudos to Eve and Layla.
