PWMania.com reported earlier this week how WWE is planning on putting the Tag Team Titles on Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara so they can build to a WrestleMania 29 match between the two. In an update, there has been at least some talk of making Rey Mysterio the heel while Sin Cara works as the babyface. With that said, some believe it would be a very bad idea for Mysterio to turn heel.
Personally neither should turn heel, and should remain both babyfaces and let the crowd choose who to support which will probably be Mysterio. Would feel weird seeing Mysterio a heel.
Nah, I don't see it. This is a classic face/face program and would work best that way in terms of the match structure, in this kind of match where fans are expecting some crazy fast paced, high flying spots, you don't do the tired body part work. Besides, nobody is cheering Cara over Mysterio anyway, so it's even more pointless. All that without talking about the huge revenue Mysterio brings from all his items as a Top seller in many markets. It will be based on the respect and the legacy of their style and country, they already started it with the mask angle. This is also not going to be Rey's last match in any way, he just went through a full rehabilitation, he's not doing all that to wrestle a few more matches. He has a few more years in him.
Mysterio is like Cena. He is so over with the kids, he will never turn heel. It will be Sin Cara as the heel if this happens. But I also don't mind seeing them as both faces at WM either. But yeah, I just don't see that happening.
I'd back this HUGE gamble if I actually expected Sin Cara to get anywhere near Mysterio's level of popularity in the WWE, as it'd be a great way to establish him as the next Mysterio I guess. But he has stuttered and stumbled so much, I can't really see him getting to that level.
Plus, Mysterio is so small - he can never work heel without some goons to do his dirty work imo.
That said, I would be happily to see them team up as a tag team, see how it goes - nothing wrong with that part of the plan.
No thanks. Mysterio tried to turn heel way back in WCW. It failed terribly. We should learn from past mistakes, don't try it again. Another point is, if Mysterio turned heel, how could Sin Cara actually be fully defined as a face? He will not be able to cut promos due to his lack of english. That will make it harder for the crowd to be behind him.
I think it would be best to try a Face VS Face feud. Simply have the whole idea of who can be true wrestler/champion of Mexico and Luchádore style. This will put Sin Cara over rather well, as he really should win this match. The alternative is to make Sin Cara heel, which will be less reliant on promo work and Mysterio's promo work can put Sin Cara over more as a heel. Turn Sin Cara face after beating Mysterio at Mania.
Either way, Sin Cara has to be a face coming out of WrestleMania 29.
Turning heel is certainly the only thing at this point that could simultaneously refresh Mysterio's character and force Sin Cara into a very favorable position, but it's a huge risk and not something I'm entirely convinced would work.
Mysterio is unquestionably one of the top draws in the company. While Sin Cara is yet to really establish himself, and at this point it's unclear whether he'll be able to become the replacement many expected. Turning Mysterio heel could damage his marketability during what has to be considered the final stretch of his career. I don't know if that's something the WWE wants to lose at a time when they have so few real draws.
Having said that, it could be a very interesting angle if done right. Mysterio has established himself as the quintessential babyface during his run in the 'E. He is quite possibly the most babyface babyface of all time, or at least since The Dragon. That's given his character a lot of length, but it has come at the cost of limiting what he can do. A heel turn would allow a much different Mysterio, and as good as Rey is, that's something that I'm sort of intrigued by.
You have to worry about a fued where Rey has to carry the mic work...
I hope they both stay face, neither would wok well as a heel and it would be a much better spectacle if it were built with some mutual respect in there.
Playing with the tag titles in build-up for a Wrestlemania singles match between two singles stars who wouldn't in any other scenario be involved in the DREADED tag division. The last seven times it's been Cena and His Nemesis, and not a single "run" did any good for tag team wrestling.
In short: LEAVE THE TITLES THE FUCK OUT OF THIS JESUS GODDAMN
EDIT: Seems I'm the only one whose main concern is this, not the heel turn. Hm.
Rey Mysterio said, that he doesn't want to turn heel. And neither does anybody else. Rey is a great good guy and should not turn heel. That's great that WWE wants to put the tag titles on them, but they couc should enter as faces (be possibly still as tag champs) at Wrestlemania 29. Just like Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero did at Wrestlemania 21.
Turning Rey heel would be a very bad idea. He is too over with the fans and they wouldn't buy it. I can't see Rey carrying it over convincingly at this stage in his career. He's like Sting in a sense: you can't turn him heel because the fans love him too much. If they want a heel vs face dynamic the only way to do it is to turn Sin Cara heel and it would work because Sin Cara is hardly over as a face anyway. Sin Cara will not go above mid card unless he cuts promo's in english.
In all honesty though, it should just be a face vs face match. Its the most simple and logical option.
Mysterio won't turn heel, and the proof is in the reactions their individual entrances receive. The fans go nuts for Mysterio, then go silent when Sin Cara shows up. They're trying to rub some of Mysterio's over-ness onto Sin Cara, and it's simply not worked to this juncture. The idea that the fans would be willing to hate the one guy that's never ever been a heel in WWE in favor of Sin Cara is just silly. Either Cara will turn, or they'll both work as faces.
I doubt it's going to happen. If it is going to be between them at Wrestlemania as a blowoff feud to end Rey's career, he will only go out on a high note that he deserves and in a face manor, and not heel. If they face at Wrestlemania, it'll only be face vs face.
I actually wondered how they were going end this little tag team with Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio, because knowing WWE they always have one guy turn on the other. I think if one of them turns heel, it should be Sin Cara. Mysterio is more established and loved by the kids and fans and I just think he's more popular. As well as that as people have already said, Mysterio tried being a heel in WCW and it failed. Sin Cara would be the logical choice.
I don't see how Rey would turn heel or how it would work. Unless he shits on Eddie Guerrero or something
