Hell, I might be just looking too deep into it but I could accept it more if Punk hits GTS, goes for the cover and Cena either raises his shoulder or has his foot under the ropes but the referee misses it. IMO, it would have fit better with the angle, as Cena can say he never lost and Punk can continue with the respect thing, seeing as he did what Cena said he couldn't and beat him at NOC. But what does Punk have to go off of now? "You should respect me because, eventhough I didn't beat you, you didn't beat me"? That's not good because based on what Cena said, beating him would earn Punk respect.

Thats exactly the point. How often have you seen things RESOLVED in wrestling? delaying payoff is the name of the game.
all this means is we get another classic between these two

The match should have ended at the Rock Bottom... or at least Punk rolling his shoulder like a wily veteran. Instead, we get "the cowardly heel only lost because the face is an idiot!" and both men end up being hurt by the finish. No one looked good after that period.

rock bottom ending the match woulda made both of them looked like idiots. it just would have put MORE focus on dwayne. If anything Punk shoulda FU'ed john
Ending protected both of them and make them look equals, gtfo

A lot of people are forgetting this is not the blow-off match of the feud. We won't see any decisive win until then. While I would have loved for a clean Punk win, and I believe that is what he needs/deserves down the line, tonight was not the time. It was a draw. He retained. He remains a heel, but not a pathetic one. Both men kick out of 2-3 finishers each and survived long submission holds.

Only in the sense one got beat and the other was too stupid to roll his shoulders. So know, the ending didn't work. IT made both men look weak. So I won't get the fuck out
