Rocky/Hulk was the only main event and only attraction of the Mania. It was the only match promoted on all the commercials, poster, and even the dvd cover. Hunter went last just to sooth his ego after being in Rocky shadow all those previous Manias.

Your jealousy of success is pathetic. The man made 36 million last year among top 4 in all of Hollywood and was ranked as one of the biggest draws and your still hating. The actors from Twilight and Harry Potter only had those films be big hits while Dwayne has Journey 2, Fast Five, soon G.I. Joe, and plenty more on the way.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Since 1986,Tom Cruise has not had a commercial flop except for Lion for Lambs,Magnolia and Rock of Ages. All three didn't have Cruise as the sole leading man. This is what a A-List Star means.
Someone who can't have a higher gross than 150 million outside franchises isn't a A-List Star.

Nice red rep, Choke2Death. But I never said I hated Rock during the Attitude Era. I hate his ass now for reasons already mentioned. DUH. Nice try though....not really.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
I think that Rock is going to debut the new title belt after the EC PPV. Everything is in place for that, Punk stole the belt, Rock is entering a program with the guy that made this design and it's not Rock's style anyway. It's the perfect timing to do it, pretty sure that's where the angle is going.

WM 14 austin .. rock ain't established to main event yet
WM 15 both rock and austin
WM 16 rock .. austin injured
WM 17 both rock and austin
then them as main attraction without the title
WM 18 rock as the main attraction with hogan also austin with hall and nash
after the 2 brands
WM 19 rock austin from raw hogan vince SD
WM 20 rock with rock n sock tag match from raw .. austin with lesnar goldberg SD YES they also closed the shows with them and start building from late 2003 when 2 title matches start after RR and no way out ??
at recent years WM season
WM 23 austin with trump vs vince
WM 27 the main attraction rock guest host
WM 28 rock vs cena and so WM 29 rock vs whatever PLUS the title will be important again at a WM FINALLY
so both rock and austin or even one of them even without wrestling sometimes .. they are and still the main thing and the reason the most of fans bought the PPV and after WM 17 there always been great feuds and matches for the title but that was the case also at any other PPV through the 4 5 years after the AE that's why rock and austin sometimes hogan also ( 18 19 ) and the celebrities are the difference only the big 3 has more power then what trump tyson mayweather and ali could bring .. the one thing standing close to this is taker's streak

That's a list I made last year about this subject, need an update now because WM29 already broke some records but I will do it after the show:
Quote:
In terms of selling point matches for WM:
1. Hogan - 1-8, 18, 19 - 10 WMs.
2. Rock - 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 27, 28 - 7 WMs.
3. HBK - 12, 14, 20, 24, 25, 26 - 6 WMs.
4. Bret - 9, 10, 12, 13, 26 - 5 WMs.
5. HHH - 16, 20, 21, 22, 25 - 5 WMs.
6. Austin - 13, 14, 15, 17 - 4 WMs.
7. Savage - 4, 5, 8 - 3 WMs.
8. Flair - 8, 20, 24 - 3 WMs.
9. Orton/Foley/Andre/Vince/Big Show/Taker/Batista/Cena - 2 WMs.
10. Lesnar/Goldberg/Warrior/Piper/Sid/Orndorff/Slaughter/Luger/Benoit/Tyson/Trump/Mayweather etc - WM.
The matches:
Hogan:
WM1. Hogan/T/Piper/Orndorff/Celebrities, WM2. Hogan/Bundy, WM3. Hogan/Andre, WM4. Hogan/Andre, WM5. Hogan/Savage, WM6. Hogan/Warrior, WM7. Hogan/Slaughter, WM8. Hogan/Sid, WM18. Hogan/Rock, WM19. Hogan/Vince.
Rock:
WM15. Rock/Austin, WM16. Rock/Foley/Show/HHH, WM17. Rock/Austin, WM18. Rock/Hogan, WM20. Rock/Sock/Evolution, WM27. Rock as GH, WM28. Rock/Cena.
HBK:
WM12. HBK/Hart, WM14. HBK/Austin/Tyson, WM20. HBK/Benoit/HHH, WM24. HBK/Flair, WM25. HBK/Taker, WM26. HBK/Taker.
Bret:
WM9. Hart/Yokozuna, WM10. Hart/Luger/Yokozuna, WM12. Hart/HBK, WM13. Hart/Austin, WM26. Hart/Vince.
HHH:
WM16. HHH/Rock/Foley/Show, WM20. HHH/Benoit/HBK, WM21. HHH/Batista, WM22. HHH/Cena, WM25. HHH/Orton.
Austin:
WM13. Austin/Hart, WM14. Austin/HBK/Tyson, WM15. Austin/Rock, WM17. Austin/Rock.
Savage:
WM4. Savage/DiBiase, WM5. Savage/Hogan, WM8. Savage/Flair.
Flair:
WM8. Flair/Savage, WM20. Evolution/Rock/Sock, WM24. Flair/HBK.
The highest grossing WM was 28 - Rock/Cena.
The biggest gate for a WM was 28 with $8.9 million - Rock/Cena.
The biggest domestic buyrate was WM17 - Rock/Austin.
The biggest international buyrate was WM28 - Rock/Cena.
The biggest overall buyrate was WM28 - Rock/Cena.
One of the most impressive numbers, if not THE, was WM5 - Macho Man vs Hulk Hogan because they drew record number of 700k+ domestic when the availability of PPV was extremely low back then and only a few did bigger than that to this day when you have access to PPV in every house. The brilliant year storyline of The Mega Powers is one of the best of all time and they did amazing business together on the road and on PPV.
If Rock plans to work 3 more WMs, he will be at the Top with Hogan. He's going to work WM29 and %99.999 WM30, so he will be almost there in a year and a half.
Selling point matches means the matches that got the most interest and promotion before the event, their place on the card is irrelevant, for example Jericho/HHH at WM18 wasn't the selling point in any way. It based on the momentum of the program before the event, the star power and the position of the stars at that time.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
^I appreciate you for leaving out Austin vs Rock as a selling point of WM19.
I guess Cena was somewhat a selling point of WM 27.Not for his match with Miz,ofcourse
The top 2reasons that I watched WM 27:
1.Rock as GH
2.Rock's possible confrontation with Cena

Ill explain it like this, A list actor means top actors weather it be for how much they get paid or name recognition. The equivalent to that is saying the top guys in WWE, in the Attitude Era you had UnderTaker, Hunter, Kurt, Foley, ect. Your trying to argue that Dwayne isnt A list cuz hes not at the absolute best of the best in over a decade guys like Deep, DiCaprio, Cruise, Smith, ect well duh there like the Steve Austin and Rocky of acting. Those names are bigger than just A list actors, someone can be an A list actor without being the best of the best, that is my point. Dwayne is under those guys but still an A list actor. Its even more impressive given were he came from knowing most directors and producers laugh at wrestlers. says jealousy is a bitch

Rocky was more of a selling factor at Mania x9 than 20. Idk how on gods earth WWE didnt do Rocky against HBK that year which wouldve been the perfect main event but clearly Vince ego got in the way. Its between Hulk and Rocky for whos the greatest star of Mania either way.

Jeff Jarrett got the most exposure he had with the Rock's mention on RAW since probably March 2001:

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
^You can twist it however you want but Rock ain't an A-List Star.He doesn't need to have a abnormal hit rate like Cruise but he needs to have hits other than franchises
He was giving hits around 75-100 million range. Then he became a part of two or three franchises grossing 300-500 million.
An A-List Star is one who can give a hit movie on his own.
Take Adam Sandler for example. His biggest hit movie is Grown-Ups which grossed 270 million. Not much. But he draws consistent numbers with few exceptions. His hugely Criticized movie Jack and Jill grossed 150 million worldwide. That was a testament to his star power.
Will Smith worst movie in recent times is Seven Pounds.Damn the movie still made 180 million worldwide. Why?Smith is a superstar
Tom Cruise is at his lowest point ever.Jack Reacher was barley promoted and still grossed 200 million.Tom gets a lot of flak nowdays but people throng to theatres to watch his movies.
