Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
The added stipulation makes me think WWE might not go down the predictable route and do Rock/Cena II. And I know a lot of you are saying "They just added it so Rock can overcome the odds and retain in the end", but didn't we just see Rock "overcome the odds" at the Rumble to win the damn belt to begin with? Coming back from the Shield powerbomb and demanding the match be restarted and coming back from Punk's onslaught to win?
I don't know how much of a screwjob ending it could be, but I do see something happening that ends with Punk regaining the Title, and we get Punk/Rock/Cena at Mania. To me, Rock just seems like someone who wouldn't wanna do the same thing twice, at least I hope he is. Many say that there's a bigger fight feel to having a one-on-one title match, and that's true to an extent. But when they're done right, triple threat matches can be just as big and more unpredictable, just like the Mania 20 main event (and yes, HHH/Benoit/HBK WAS the main event).
I've said this before too, but if they REALLY want it to come down to Rock/Cena fighting for the gold, make it an elimination-style triple threat and have Punk beaten in the first half, then it can come down to Rock and Cena.
"They will LIE to you, she said. They will try to DENOUNCE you, she said. They will try to STEAL your gift, and she was right. Sister Abigail always spoke the truth, and so do I. So when I tell you that I knew this day would come, I am NOT telling you a lie! And on this day, in this moment in time right now, this very second, I can truly say that I have the whole damn world in my hands!"
