Re: Can The Rock really retain the belt at Elimination Chamber?

Rock is retaining 100%. No doubt about it.

having an immediate Rock/Punk rematch is dumb. the winner is obvious which ruins the build.

Re: Can The Rock really retain the belt at Elimination Chamber?

It'd be nice to see Punk/Cena headline Wrestlemania. It's been a feud that's been building for a long time and needs the big stage for the title.

But Rock/Cena is all about the mon-ay!

Re: Can The Rock really retain the belt at Elimination Chamber?

Ideal Booking:
Somehow, the WWE title match at EC is cancelled
At EC, the Shield Triple Powerbombs Cena off a ladder onto the English announce table, after their match, creating a Kayfabe injury.
Punk and Rock have a proper build towards a WWE title match at WM
Punk goes over Rock at WM
WWE pushes a legitimate superstar to feud with Punk for the WWE title, not some joke like Ryback

When all is said and done, nothing even remotely similar to my ideal booking will go down

Re: Can The Rock really retain the belt at Elimination Chamber?

Anything can happen. This is the WWE, dammit!

WWE is filled with 'Good Ol' Boys' in power positions. It is just how it is, and I will keep calling WWE, Pro Wrestling in USA, as well as some of it's fans out on this because it is bollox. I do notice an apparent effort being made to mitigate this somewhat, but time will ultimately tell.

Now before I continue, I would like to qualify what I am saying by making clear I am not just saying this as a Punk fan. I respect The Rock and his contribution to the WWE, but I find it totally embarrassing that after 6 months of build up to the Royal Rumble, he finally wins, turns up at one Raw, and then bam, not there all of a sudden.

In the short term, Rock as champ is obviously a good business move, but each Raw that The Rock misses will quite quickly start to damage the impact of the WWE title. And if Rock and Cena want to feud over this belt...well I really don't see the belt being that important come WM29 if the belt is kept off TV.

The WWE belt has never been intended to go to the best wrestler, or even the best all round entertainer, or the best talker. It's simply meant to go to the person, who at the time, is carrying the ball. The one putting asses to seats. So whilst in theory The Rock is the greatest draw of all time...he can't draw if he can't be bothered to show up. I think he needs to drop the belt at EC for the sake of the titles reputation, and his own.

Not sure if this has already been stated, but he's only missing three more RAW's heading into 'Mania (and Lesnar is scheduled for those episodes --- with those episodes and the go home edition of RAW for 'Mania being the only ones Lesnar will be on), so I think it will be fine as the main focus of RAW will just shift to Lesnar's storylines when Rock is gone (only three episodes; with Lesnar's storylines likely being continued by Heyman when Brock isn't their)... And thus it's only a total of four episodes Rock will be missing including this past week - and it seems he's made one appearance on SMACKDOWN for every appearance he's missed on RAW (having appeared on two already, and scheduled for two more). I think people are overreacting a bit to him missing RAW this past Monday, guy is an A-List celebrity but came back and is appearing as often as he can (I'm happy about that). Wrestling will have a much bigger exposure heading to 'Mania with Rock as Champion IMO. And for the three RAW episodes he's not going to be on in the coming months, we'll get to see the former UFC Champion, Brock Lesnar, back on the show. I think all will be fine....

The Rock will retain but my only problem with that is he's not a full time wrestler. Having him retain to face Cena makes is understandable but it's also a cheap way of getting Rock vs. Cena 2. Rock really can't even be seen as a part time wrestler he's more of a special attraction he's not showing up weekly he's not wrestling weekly definitely not on "free tv" he has no need of the belt or any right to it in my eyes.
