Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
I've just rewatched Punk/Rock match and enjoyed it more than the first time. It's actually a better match than I thought it was. Maybe the lingering disappointment of Cena's Rumble win made me think it was worse.

I never said that. He wouldve never been pushed as the top dog if Lesnar never left and Lesnar woudlve never been pushed as top dog if Rocky never left. If you think Cena wouldve had nearly as good of a career with Rocky there your delusional

Meltzer gave the match 4 stars.
Would agree with him, I really enjoyed it.

Wow. Theres overrating something and then there is that. It was 3 stars and thats being generous.
It was a punch/kick fest with virtually no actual moves or big spots. The lights going out and Rock restarting the match was Russo's wet dream.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
It's about telling a story, first and foremost. When you do that and you get the audience involved you did a good job. Punk and Rock did just that. No "big spots" needed. Great worked match. **** is appropriate.

It was enjoyable, somewhat old school with just punches and kicks and the psychology was there, it just didn't feel particularly special, 3 and a half stars from me.

It was 80/20, 75/25 at best. With 95/5 towards the end of the match. From the live video, it was an awesome atmosphere, especially for Rock's victory pop. WWE really need to mic their arenas better.
Anyway, very good segment on RAW, Rock in the EC would have been great but if you think about the participants, it's really problematic to book. Ryback can't lose and to book a Rock/Cena exchange anywhere before WM in a match would be stupid. Then all you have left is mid card guys so a rematch with Punk is fine. I wanted fresh opponent but they're all busy in the SD side unfortunately. Surreal moment to see Rock with the belt again on RAW. Great promo to show the significance of the moment and setting up the rematch with Punk. It's about time he also called him a "punk ass bitch". I guess that they're doing now the delusional heel Punk character where he refuse to believe that he lost the belt until Rock beats him clean again at EC for him to realize that it's officially over. Another part of it is that Rock is probably gonna wait until after EC to bring his new WWE Title belt as part of the Cena feud to WM29.
As for a 3 way, should never happen. There's no money in a 3 way, people want to see one on one matches in the main event. If it was Brock? It's a different story(And even then, Cena would hurt it)but other than that it should be Rock/Cena alone. Any other factor is going to lower the hype and the appeal of the match to the paying audience.

Nope, it was 60/40 in favour of Rock at best. Also, the Rock won't be bringing his new belt to WM. When are you people going to get it through your thick skulls, that there will be no new belt?

He can't cash in on the WWE title. He can only cash it in on the World Heavyweight title.

I reckon the EC will be a better match than the RR.
Can't be that hard to top.

You can't prove that. For all we know they could have had Cena feud with The Rock early on and it could have made him a star overnight, it could have been the feud of Cena's career. Hell, they had newcomer's like Sheamus go over Cena and HHH so there's no reason why they wouldn't have used Rock to push Cena. But I'm not going to debate this all day because I a) don't have a Crystal Ball and b) don't work for the writing staff.
The fact is we don't know what would have happened but even if you were right, the same could be said for every wrestler who became a top tier performer. If enough old school guys didn't step aside in WWF then it would have made it harder for Rock to succeed. Hell if WCW didn't exist and guys like Hogan, Sting, Flair, Savage etc were in WWF from 1997 onwards then it woulda' been hella' hard for Rock to have consistently main evented but again, I don't have a crystal ball and don't work for the writing staff, so there's no point saying anything would have definitely happened.

I don't give a fuck about Rock OR Cena, but do you really not think Cena will take the Title at WrestleMania?
Because your reply didn't argue his point for or against, you just brought up a seperate point about their careers and quoted him.
