The fact that you even acknowledge the predictability of the WWE is a shame to me, since I'd assume part of the intrigue in watching wrestling is that you don't know who is going to win. The fact that you refer to the 434 day reign as "misery" is quite disheartening to me, considering you seem to consider yourself a true wrestling fan that enjoys the big moments this business has. Moments like 6/27/11.... Or MITB 2011. Those were moments, possibly the only actual moments we will be able to look back on in this era and say "Wow, that was really something great that happened there, and we may not have realized at the time how great of a moment it actually was. " But to say that The Rock winning tonight was a "great moment" is a far cry from reality. As soon as The Shield (lets assume it was them) interfered, I stopped watching. I knew that The Rock had the title in the bag. Not that the match was that great to begin with but I was expecting a huge trade at the end, lots of near falls and an eventual winner. How many near falls did we have tonight? I think there was a grand total of 1 two count. Just one. The Rock, despite being "injured" and being a "great seller" was kicking out at 1 so fast you'd have to question whether he was wrestling or in a pillow fight. So now, for two years in a row we are forced to watch a guy that is WAY, WAY past his prime getting the top spot in the biggest match of the year. Two years of every bodies hard work is washed away so Cena and Rock can have the show to themselves. How many years is this going to continue on for? Rock/Cena 3, the rubber match? And then what, Cena moves on to a schedule like The Rock is currently on and he just comes to in bury people and not advance this company into a new era. We have all these guys on the roster, and I know for a fact Vince isn't going to be able to give them all the pushes/time they deserve and will be buryed and released like the rest of them or just turned into jobbers. It's a sad wrestling world we live in, and to reiterate my point, this wasn't a "moment of greatness", this was another defining moment in the downfall of the wrestling industry.
|
So a huge buzz around it, a great kickstart to a huge buyrate on the biggest stage of them all, and its a DOWNFALL? Do you know how the wrestling business works?
If anything, Punk's reign looked more as a downfall than Rock winning

Re: Did Vince make the right decision regarding CM Punk vs Rock?
Money wise he made the right choice, but that is for the here and now. But in the longterm he made the wrong choice. Cm Punk as a brand was affected, he was essentially devalued because he lost to a part timer, so much credibility down the drain. The Rock will eventually leave, and then your left w/ a Cm Punk that needs rebuilding to an extent. To me if you want the titles to mean anything at all, the champion can not loose to a part timer, no matter how great the part timer is. The only way I can see a remedy for this mess is for the WWE to book a triple threat for the title, and have Cm Punk come out on top. But alas that wont happen since we all know Cena will win at WM.

So you admit you're just trolling? Anyway, you and the rest of the Punk-haters, by all means carry on with your little circle jerk - you're not impressing anyone.

I don't know which is worse... you entertaining the notion of Heath Slater winning the RR, or actually entertaining what was clearly a troll post.

The Rock lays down for nobody
OP clearly knows what's best for business better than Vince does. Hopefully Rock beats Orton on Raw or something and then I guess fella too.

Rock vs. Brock Lesnar would bring a way bigger buyrate . Just the mainstream attention in TRTWM would be through the roof .

I'm trying to illustrate the purpose of the RR, or at least the kayfabe purpose of it...

434 days. The greatest reign in the history of professional wrestling. Nobody will forget it.
