Very good observation on the storytelling of the feud tied into the finish. I hadn't thought about it. It was The Rock and in a way "The People" that finally defeated CM Punk. I will certainty be re-watching this match tomorrow.

It was not as good as the Rock/Cena match IMO but it was a great, physical match with awesome investment and moment - ****1/4.

The Shield spot was completely pointless but everything else was too strong to ruin something. Iconic moment and the reason I'm still watching and following this industry. For classic moments like this with genuine emotion around it. Rock/Cena 2 at WM29 looks like it's already been confirmed but I still say what I said before and that's the possibility of the EC match with Heyman bringing back Lesnar to stop Rock, costing him the title and setting up Rock/Brock for the WM29 main event. For now I don't really care. Only one more thing to say:

I feel really sorry for you wasting all this time to write up quite possibly the most ignorant post I've read on here tonight. The fact that you even acknowledge the predictability of the WWE is a shame to me, since I'd assume part of the intrigue in watching wrestling is that you don't know who is going to win. The fact that you refer to the 434 day reign as "misery" is quite disheartening to me, considering you seem to consider yourself a true wrestling fan that enjoys the big moments this business has. Moments like 6/27/11.... Or MITB 2011. Those were moments, possibly the only actual moments we will be able to look back on in this era and say "Wow, that was really something great that happened there, and we may not have realized at the time how great of a moment it actually was. " But to say that The Rock winning tonight was a "great moment" is a far cry from reality. As soon as The Shield (lets assume it was them) interfered, I stopped watching. I knew that The Rock had the title in the bag. Not that the match was that great to begin with but I was expecting a huge trade at the end, lots of near falls and an eventual winner. How many near falls did we have tonight? I think there was a grand total of 1 two count. Just one. The Rock, despite being "injured" and being a "great seller" was kicking out at 1 so fast you'd have to question whether he was wrestling or in a pillow fight. So now, for two years in a row we are forced to watch a guy that is WAY, WAY past his prime getting the top spot in the biggest match of the year. Two years of every bodies hard work is washed away so Cena and Rock can have the show to themselves. How many years is this going to continue on for? Rock/Cena 3, the rubber match? And then what, Cena moves on to a schedule like The Rock is currently on and he just comes to in bury people and not advance this company into a new era. We have all these guys on the roster, and I know for a fact Vince isn't going to be able to give them all the pushes/time they deserve and will be buryed and released like the rest of them or just turned into jobbers. It's a sad wrestling world we live in, and to reiterate my point, this wasn't a "moment of greatness", this was another defining moment in the downfall of the wrestling industry.

You'd be foolish to think any other scenario would generate a figure resembling last year's success. You don't have to like Cena, I happen to think he's awful, but he's still the guy and the rematch surpasses the myriad of other possibilities if booked correctly. Rock going over brings more mainstream outlets to the dance, and that's the whole point.
