Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Well, according to a report a few days ago by Lords of Pain, the Punk/Rock match, including intros and whatnot, is expected to take up about 30 minutes of air time, and go on before the Rumble match. There are some signs here to me (the placement of the match, the video promoting Punk vs Ryback in Istanbul for the title, and if you look on WWE.com, Punk is still heavily featured next to Rock and Cena as superstars to see on upcoming episodes of RAW leading up to WrestleMania) that points to a Punk win, but at this point, it's very up in the air, and way too tough to call.

Not sure how that points to a punk win. He will obviously be featured heavily with or without the title.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
When you really take the time to think about it, the idea of the Rock - now a FULL-TIME HOLLYWOOD ACTOR, returning after almost a year away and taking the title from a FULL-TIME WRESTLER, who has been champion FOR OVER 430 DAYS, is nothing short of ludricous. I really hope it doesn't happen, because Rock really doesn't need to be anywhere near the WWE title. And it's not just 'cos it's Punk, no full-time superstar on the current roster, should have to lose their title to a special attraction, Hollywood actor.

Like you going ham whenever Rock sells for Punk especially his pathetic, little kicks with those malnourished, vanilla legs of his but will emphasize how the GOAT (Maradona/Ali/Jordan/Federer of wrestling) is giving an Oscar-caliber performance (ala Scorpion King/Fast 5 which all broke records and were box office hits BTW) and is making a janitor, hack of a champion look like a billion bucks. When Rock does the spinebuster, you will also say the spine on the pine by the greatest of all time. Damn, what a line.
Tyrion will have an exclusive Tyrion mine of his own with a poster of Barrett posing with the world title on the door (current avy), have a nervous breakdown anytime Rock goes for the cover, will also give subtle hints on if this match isn't the MANIA main event, he won't be calling the PPV and in general will consistently whine, moan and be the ultimate pessimist throughout. Both Tyrion and you will no sell each other's comments BTW, as if you two are having a different conversation or sitting at opposite poles.
Clique will be the WF JR, focusing on the action, calling it down the middle and letting us know how COMPELLING the match is.

Money. But I don't think this place is ready for my live, objective commentary in The GOAT's first WWE Title match since August 2002. Especially when he's going over. You know what the problem is? That the Rock/Cena moment was just so perfect that I can't think of ANY situation that can top it. Think about it, for years the ultimate dream scenario was to see Rock beating Cena clean at WM, you got it with a full year of hype and promotion. For me, only a Rock/HBK match can top it. I'm sure that it will be awesome to see Rock taking the belt for another run, but I know from now that nothing is going to duplicate that final Cena's People's Elbow into a Rock Bottom spot.
Rock/Mankind SVS 1998 -
Rock/Mankind I Quit Rumble 1999 -
Rock/Mankind Ladder RAW February 1999 -
Rock/HHH Backlash 2000 -
Rock/Taker/Kane vs Vince/Shane/HHH KOTR 2000 -
Rock/Angle NWO 2001 -
Rock/Angle/Taker Vengeance 2002 -
Incredible list of matches just by Rock's title wins. Besides the 6 man tag at KOTR and maybe the Rock/Mankind SVS/ladder match, I doubt it's going to be better than the rest but they can put on a great match with high energy, athleticism, fast-paced exchanges and huge crowd reactions just like all Rock's main events.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Just watched the Punk/Rock promo from Smackdown. Great promo from these two, again. Punk calling out Shield was nice, too. "We're gonna have words."
It just seems like they've made Rock sound so confident ("I will be champion", "I will win", etc) that the result in my mind isn't so cut and dry. I see Punk winning. Not sure how, but the build has been great, and I'm really looking forward to the match.
