Exactly this. I'm a huge Punk mark, but I watched the Rock week in week out, when he was at the peak of his career - I know how great the Rock is and what he means to the business. You'll never hear me say a bad word against Rock... however, that doesn't mean he needs a meaningless title win - which would be for pure nostalgic purposes only... and certainly not at the expense of the most talented star of the current era.

Regarding the Rumble, I'm split. I'd love to see Punk/Rock go on last but there's nothing better than watching a great title fight and then going straight into the ROYAL RUMBLE match (unless it sucks).

How can people say how Punk just happens to be the champion like The Miz was at Wrestlemania 27? Punk's title reign is on a much higher level than The Miz was. The Miz was booked much weaker and Punk at least got one on one programs with the biggest stars in the company. He beat people clean both as a face and even as a heel. He cut better promos and his reign means more. I cannot see Punk dropping drastically down the card the way The Miz did.
