How can people say how Punk just happens to be the champion like The Miz was at Wrestlemania 27? Punk's title reign is on a much higher level than The Miz was. The Miz was booked much weaker and Punk at least got one on one programs with the biggest stars in the company. He beat people clean both as a face and even as a heel. He cut better promos and his reign means more. I cannot see Punk dropping drastically down the card the way The Miz did.

I personally cannot wait until The Rock beats CM Punk cleanly and ends his reign at the Royal Rumble

it's about time people were reminded what a REAL Champion looks like!

I think its difficult to book in all honesty, I can see why you'd do Rock/Punk first because if they did it after the Rumble the crowd will be a little jaded, this way the crowd can rest for the start of the Rumble and gradually get back into it.

Whenever I'm reading some of these posts, it's usually one of these things or the other: "YAY! ROCKY'S HERE TO SAVE US, AND BURY THAT OVERRATED VANILLA MIDGET INDY FAGGOT PHIL!" or "MAN, I HOPE THE GAWD, CM PUNK, KICKS DWAYNE'S CANDY ASS AND SEND HIS HACK HASBEEN ASS BACK TO HOLLYWOOD!"

Is it wrong to give credit to one, WITHOUT discrediting the other? I'm a Rocky mark, I'll admit it. I've been cheering this dude since I was 5 years old, so seeing him compete in this day and age of WWE, and quite possibly becoming WWE Champion again makes me happy, and brings back warm nostalgic memories.

However, I also acknowledge, and RESPECT, the tremendous reign that CM Punk has had. You don't just give someone a long title reign such as this for the fuck of it. And Rock has paid attention to what Punk has done, in some ways carrying this company on his back during this reign, and that's why that (according to dem dirtsheets) he wanted Punk to keep the belt on him leading into Royal Rumble, making the significance of this match much more important.

So, again, if you're a fan of Rock, or a fan of Punk, that's fine, don't be ashamed of it, but don't do it at the behest of the other, as both guys are tremendous athletes, performers, and will both go down as All-Time Greats when things are said and done.

Amen, on a great post, rep my good sir.

1000000% agree here. Punk/Rock was better the first week than the entire Rock/Cena program. ANd I for one can't wait for the actual match. As one of the bigget Rock marks ever and a HUGE fan of CM Punk currently its awesome to see them in a program together, each getting to play the best role for themselves.

"After my first WWE Championship run came to an end, I made a conscious decision that night that I would work harder than any other Superstar in the locker room to become the type of WWE entertainer who, if I never had another championship run again, it would not define my career. I never wanted to rely on a title run for success."

Rock's next statement reflects his recent approach to mixing "entertainment" with "seriousness." Rock concluded, "My goal was to get to a place where I relied only on what I could bring to the table in terms of being entertaining and having a one-of-a-kind - and electrifying - connection with all of the WWE Universe."
Described it perfectly because that's what made him the best of all time at what he does. The connection with the audience, the ability to read and manipulate every type of crowd and make every fan in that arena feel like he's getting a solo performance even if he's surrounded by 15-20k.

Quote:
"It starts with recognizing what the WWE Championship represents to me," Rock said in the February 2013 issue. "Every time I hold that title over my head in victory, it not only signifies the fact that I have delivered the absolute best entertainment that I could to the WWE Universe, but that I'm taking a moment to live an experience that all the generations of wrestlers in my family strived to achieve.

Rock continued, "There is no other award that I could receive that's as deeply ingrained in my blood and history as the WWE Championship - and that's why it means so much to me."
That's should be the go-home segment for the Rumble. Rock cutting a promo on the importance and significance of the title for him for generations of his family and why when he does it again at the Rumble, it will be even more special than the first time he won it in November 1998.

As for the belt, I think there's a big chance that Rock is bringing a trashcan and a briefcase with him to the ring next Monday. It's the perfect opportunity to introduce a new design. You can also see on RAW two weeks ago when he held the belt and threw it, that's a big sign. If not a new belt, I can see him bringing back the AE/Undisputed or even better his Brahma Bull belt.

BTW, WWE again did a terrible job promoting Rock on RAW. This time they didn't even tell the audience that he's going to be there.
