Joey Styles On part time talent headlining Wrestlemania: “You can make an argument for or against anything; it may take the spotlight off of some younger people, but you can also argue that the overall spotlight may not be as bright without The Rock or Brock Lesnar. You cannot overstate the effect that the Rock has on the audience watching WWE. Since the Rock has been on the show, the traffic on WWE.com is up, and the ratings have averaged over 3.0 both weeks. He brings a whole other audience in that may not normally watch WWE, and helps put more of a spotlight on everybody. It’s not like he left on bad terms, he left to become one of the biggest stars in the world.
We're defined by our greatest influences..He is one of mine. #HappyBirthdayChamp
The Rock paying tribute to the True GOAT
No doubt, The GOATs. Add Jordan and Maradona and it's a perfect pic.
I had asked this question before and nobody answered.
Will Rock retire after WM 29?I also expect Rock3:16AE to answer this question.
After he headlined 3 WMs in a row, only something really big would prevent him from headlining the fourth when 30 is next. If it wasn't 30? Maybe but I doubt it. Although what a lot of people don't understand is that WM29 is going to be a bigger money show than WM30 because of the market. NY, the biggest of all time. Which is why it's even crazier to me how WWE aren't going all out with this show even more than any other WM. The maximum share of revenue is much bigger this year than almost any event in history. But they're still doing a rematch main event.
Anyway, with Rock it's more about the opportunities, for him to come back to work, WWE need to organize a reasonable opponent with a program that can be worth his time with a strong promotion and a chance to be successful. If they're not investing 100%, it's not worth it. WM27 was the return and the WM host concept. Then the return to the ring in MSG, 15 years after his debut in the same arena and the same event. Last year it was the Cena dream match. This year it's the WWE Title chase. If they can keep these possibilities with Rock's schedule allowing it to happen, he can work even after WM30.
Problem is that the roster and creative are at an all-time low that there's no way to do it. You can do Rock against The Streak at WM. Or Lesnar, or a Randy Orton match if he turns heel and gets pushed in the level of 09-10. But that's pretty much it. Unless you count dream scenarios like HBK coming back to headline WM30 with Rock...
The Rock To Be Featured In Two Super Bowl Ads
The New York Times reports that The Rock will be featured in a "Got milk?" ad that will air during the Super Bowl. The commercial is funded by The Milk Processor Education Program, and is scheduled to air during the second quarter of the game on February 3rd.
The spot is directed by Peter Berg, who directed The Rundown, which also starred The Rock.
The trailer for Fast Six, which features The Rock, is also slated to premiere during the game.
As for that report, that was obvious. I said it in this thread IIRC. When a babyface of Rock's level is promising to this extent that he's going to beat a heel, that's 99% what's happening. Not like I needed this line to know that Rock is going over, but that was an even bigger confirmation.
BTW, Rock currently is number 2 on the list of the most main attraction matches for WM in its history. Hogan holds the record with 10 WMs, Rock second with 7. After 29 it would be 8. Maybe going for the record after WM30.
