Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
I would think that if guys like Hunter or Shawn had any say and were asked, "Who would you rather have the record breaking WWE Title reign, John Cena or CM Punk?", there's no way they would say Cena. And the reasons are pretty obvious.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Good to see Bully stick up for Punk but Punk's rants don't do anything for anyone except himself. His shoots haven't led to Colt being rehired or ice cream bars, and his latest "shoot" won't lead to Kidd getting a better spot or Broadus getting a big push. It seems like the low level guys love when Punk does this since it looks like he's sticking up for them, but i bet the guys higher on the card just roll their eyes and go on with business as usual. Hell JTG actually did more for the "boy in the back" when he called out the wwe for their Wrestlemania payday and got them to cut everyone another check.

When Superstars do promos, it's always for them, that was the point. He never really expected them to hire Colt thanks to one promo.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
How many wrestlers have truly revolutionised the business in the last 40 odd years?I can think of just one or two.
Let's be honest-He didn't change the way the industry was going to be run but on a personal level,he has propelled himself ahead of guys like Orton.

the best promos I've ever seen.
Hulk Hogan on CM Punk-I think CM PUNK has stepped up and proved he can hold his own with anybody in the ring and anybody on the mic,he's on a roll. HH
My favourite wrestlers:
1.Stone Cold Steve Austin
2.HHH
3.CM Punk
4.Brock Lesnar
5.The Rock

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
In order for somebody to be a mega star, there should be something extra ordinary about him.
Hogan-The first superhero of professional wrestling, also the first ever superhero turned villain.
Austin-The first ever anti-hero of professional wrestling.
Rock-Got over because of his mic skills, iconism, catchphrases, promos and took professional wrestling to a new level of 'markism'
CM Punk has nothing..........or has something which Rock/Austin/Hogan already had.
If WWE is smart they won't risk again on CM Punk, his shoot promos only appeal to the SMARKS and not the casual fans.WWE badly needs a next megastar who has something Rock/Austin/Hogan didn't have.

Well, I do recall reading years ago that they disapproved of Cena being the new top guy since he couldn't wrestle all that well. Another reason is because Punk is more similar to them than Cena, more of a wrestler type and not a star type, if that makes any sense.

Not going to happen in the recent future.

the only problem is, nobody on the current roster has something new and innovative that the holy trinity have not tried or done, i still think if cena turns heel he could be the next megastar but the chances of him turning are very slim and the chances of it being as big or anywhere near as impact-full as hogan's heel turn are 1 to a million.

It makes sense if we were talking about 2006 lol. That isn't the case anymore though. I can't speak for Shawn because he doesn't really get asked about it all that much but in any recent interview where HHH is asked, all he does is sing Cena's praises, hell, he even does it on the show too. I don't think either of them have a problem with him being the top guy. Whether they prefer him to Punk or vice versa I don't really know but if I had to guess I wouldn't say so. Just my 2 cents.
