The guy(upcoming superstar) that beats Punk for the title can be elevated to the top tier by that one victory alone.

Stop making sense. We can't give the top heel a big rub so he can elevate new guys to the top level. We shouldn't think about the future until Cena retires because who needs the kind of multitude of stars of past eras when we have him?

How is a poll asking for people's opinion on who they think will win the match is relevant in any way to crowd reactions, credible prediction etc? Pretty obvious that Rock is going over and that's the right decision, just like WM28. It was booked that way before their first promo because the reason Punk is even holding the title right now is that they booked the Rock/Rumble match in July. Any other situation and Ryback/Cena are winning it months ago.

It's really just one Rock Bottom, seeing how the rest of the stuff were just for the live crowd and therefor not canon. This last Raw had them equal and, if they are following their usual pattern, Punk will likely get the last word on the Raw before RR if he's losing the title (which seems easy to predict).

That's wrong. The point of Rock winning championship is building the legacy of John Cena. That is the only reason why Rock is winning the title. To further the Rock Cena feud.

We all know WWE isn't going to be able to rely on Rock, Taker, Triple H and possibly Austin much longer. WWE needs John Cena to be able to take that role. Punk isn't building the future. We all know he's retiring the second his run at the top is over with. He's only said it a million times.

I know you guys think John Cena doesn't need this but he does.

But Cena's had that role for some time now. In fact, it's that time where the company's searching for someone to fill the John Cena-esque face role for the future.

That's not to say I don't think they won't have Cena get his win back against the Rock. It would be bizarre, even by WWE standards, to think they'll miss the opportunity to have the current generation look inferior to the previous one and be so stark in their declaration of it.

Punk needs to win. WWE need to have Punk win. They still only have 1 full time major star in Cena. That will be so apparent after mania if they don't do the right things now with Punk, and make the guy a star.

Whether you like him are not, Punk is the closest they have right now to taking that next step. He needs to go over Rock ( obviously not clean ) ,and be featured in a huge a match at mania. I reckon Rock will realise he doesn't need this win, and do the right thing by putting Punk over.
