Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Don't believe either of those reports tbh. I think Rock will either win it at the Rumble or not at all. If they are gonna keep the title on Punk until the Chamber then why not keep it on him until Mania? It would make whatever match he is in much bigger and Rock would only lose the title there anyway (Mania). A 5 week reign seems pointless to me.
And I don't believe they would go with that card, it's pretty much the worst combination they could do with the guys they have available. But I guess we'll see soon enough.

Apart from avoiding predictability I'd say that one point to it is that it will make Rock give Punk a bigger rub in a story that still has Rock as the final winner. The Rock is in no danger of losing his popularity and I'd say that it's probably more necessary overall to have him help the #1 heel than it is to give a rub to Cena.
I'm not expecting it to happen though, but I do think it would be the better choice. Another factor of what would be best is of course also how much The Rock can be on Raw from now to WM. It's hard to take into account though since we have no idea.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Both sides of the "Mark Wars" here should be ashamed of themselves for the stupid shit I'm reading as regarding to the promo on Monday. Seriously, log off.
I will say this. CM Punk vs. The Rock has to be the WWE Championship match at Wrestlemania 29 and it has to be the main event. No John Cena. No Brock Lesnar. No Triple H. No Undertaker. Nobody involved but these two. This is already better than Rock/Cena in the promo department and we have THREE. WEEKS. LEFT. Holy fuckery.
Nobody wants Rock/Cena II and who the fuck wants it after....THAT on Monday?

Only chance of that report is the other way around. Rock wins the belt at Royal Rumble, the big PPV which is promoted around his title chase after 10 years. Then losing at EC in a Chamber match due to a Brock interference setting up Rock/Lesnar at the WM29 main event AND giving the payoff of Rock winning the belt again. Looks to me like the perfect booking without having to worry about the belt after Mania. Rock is going over at the Rumble either way, it's just the question of EC/WM/Lesnar/Cena afterward.

Yeah just because it's unpredictable doesn't mean it's good, either for the story or for business (:hhh)
And like I said if Punk is to win at the Rumble that's fine, but to then have him lose it at the Chamber would be a bad decision. Giving Rock the title for a few weeks just to put over Cena would be stupid, it would massively devalue whatever Punk does at Mania too.
Chamber isn't going to do nearly as well as the Rumble either in terms of buys so I find it hard to believe they'd put the title on Rock for the first time in 11 years when there is like 200,000 people watching compared to half a million at the Rumble.

It's only predictable of you have been on the web for about 24 hours, in each 7 days, in each 4 weeks of last 6 months of your life.
Rock needs to establish his credibility back after being away again for so long and one great way to do it is to win the title in his first match back.
Punk has nothing to lose since he gained nothing anyway in the past 14 months that they have pushed him to the galaxies other threatening Big Sexy's record of being the greatest box office king in the companies' history.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Cena is a douche, I'm starting to realize. I'll defend Cena more than most people on here but after having a crappy 2012 and horrible performance (sans match on RAW Monday), I have no desire to see him rematch with the Rock at Mania again. Although I feel he should have won it still, it was billed as "Once in a Lifetime". Rock won, Cena lost. It's over. Move on.
What, is it going to be "Twice in a Lifetime" now for the title while Punk does a meaningless match with Taker at Mania? Let me barf.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread
Like I said unpredictability doesn't equate to good, that's a fallacy I see people use a lot on here.
Something I think could work and would be good would to be to have Rock win at the Rumble, retain it at the Chamber and go into Mania as champ. At the same time you keep Punk looking strong and have him become more of a tweener in the weeks during the RTWM, perhaps by having him split from Heyman (so he can become Brock's mouthpiece which Brock desperately needs). Then you do Rock (c) vs. Punk at Mania one on one with Punk winning clean, they shake hands after the match and that's the end of their story. Punk becomes champion (and a babyface) again and gets a huge win and moment at Mania.
Ideally Cena would turn heel at the same time so WWE have a top heel but that obviously would never happen
