Yes, two different characters. One is versatile and can change around the fued as required without completely changing their gimmick. The other is stuck rigid in the same bland shite and requires people to work around them. I don't blame Cena, I blame Vince, but you can't compare last nights promo to last years. Last years had some decent moments but last nights was ten times better than anything they did last year.

Anyway speaking of turning the crowd was it just the stream I watched it on or were there some audible boos after the Rock Bottom on Punk. I couldn't tell if it was or just shitty sound on the stream.

Rock got some boos with that Rock Bottom. This feud won't have one-sided reactions like Rock/Cena did, not even with Punk being a heel.

Wow, that right there is why i love wrestling. Great chemistry between the 2, it's already a better feud than Cena and Rock. Marks arguing over who 'won' need to stfu, it's ridiculous and you're blinded by your fandom over whoever you prefer.

It was a good promo by both I don't think either did better than the other. I just think people are going for punk more because it seems like they gave him more freedom with his promo so people aren't used to him being that good.

The Rock didn't flinch and stood his ground and came back very well. It was just a good promo by both. But no one got the better of the other guy.

ALSO, for anyone that thinks Rock is all jokes and catchphrases, you guys should go look at some promos he had with SCSA before their Wrestlemania matches. He was almost always serious in some of those. Especially the one with JR. So there is no doubt Rocky doesn't have it in him to cut a serious bad ass promo with Punk.

Arguing aside, I have to say Rock/Punk compliment each other so well. The Rock is a larger-than-life character, doing his schtick and all, while Punk brings realism into it. The chemistry is amazing. That promo alone is better than anything Cena/Rock did imo. Everybody wins with this feud. It's one of those feud that just writes itself without being forced.

You don't even need to go back that far for proof. If someone didn't get it after last night's promo, they probably just don't like (and never will) the Rock's style of delivering promos or the content he presents with a mix of intensity, live crowd interaction, and jokes.

Actually there is no real reason for a feud between punk and rock, exepct the wwe title of course, but that's not enough to make it an intense feud. On the contrary, cena vs rock was intense because it was a clash of two different generations. and people really wanted to see that. The rock kicking Cena's ass was everyone's dream. Rock/punk is a classic feud however. Rock wants the wwe title and punk wants to keep it. nothing more. It can never be like rock/austin (the two biggest superstars of AE) or Rock/Cena (clash of generations)

Rock spews out the same catchphrases every time blue moon we see him. Every speech CM Punk gives differs, he's way more creative and says a lot more interesting things. Rock just sucks up to the crowd like Cena.

Yea that's very true. All I'm saying is that he can cut a promo with no jokes at all if he really wanted to.

I would also like to add that Rock had some very physical matches when he was around. But it would have been too cheesy/out of the way for the Rock to mention that. He was around when chair shots to the head were an every night event. He went against Mick Foley in some crazy matches. And a table match with the Dudley Boys. There were way more but I wont sit here and name all of the Rocks dangerous matches. Although I do agree with what Punk said when it came to some champs having it easy in the past.
