But we all know that isn't true and this is why he turns some of the fans away. People roll their eyes whenever he makes these claims. Especially since, ten minutes beforehand, he needed The Shield's help to beat Ryback. Where was all that skill and ability then? He hasn't won a match clean in forever. We haven't seen him back up his words as a heel. All he has done is run away and yet he is the most complete wrestler Rock has faced? Triple H in 2000 could make this claim and no one would bat an eye at it because he looked legit and backed up his threats.

I am sorry he just doesn't look intimidating enough to stand next to the Rock and there is no getting around that truth. Maybe, if he actually worked out and had flat abs I could see it but as he is now.....

: nope.

Re: punk promo pre-rock entrance

Rock would have owned Punk if he had said "Who in the blue hell are you?" or "Roody-poo candy ass", but he backed off and had to say "The Rock says".
Punk won tonight by far.

Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread

Wow. I am absolutely amazed. This rock comeback was beyond awesome. It was vintage rock at his best. Got the crowd going, was intense and sold the WWE Championship match. I thought Rock was absolutely on fire. I thought Punk was good, too. But I don't understand how people love the promo style of Punk. I thought his Promo was, to be honest, really boring. Nevermind. Rock and Punk together will be gold. It really felt old-school. Time's up!

Rock was lame last night. Using the same old crap every time when he returns.

Oh and it doesn't matter about who owned who. Its a wrestling promo not a boxing conference or a live debate.

After The Rock came out, neither he nor Punk had a great promo. Just run of the mill by their standards. They could have done it in their sleep.

The one thing missing from this feud right now is the sense that Punk is dangerous. He's a great wrestler and this and that, but I need to believe that if The Rock doesn't put him down for a 3-count that Punk is capable of putting The Rock in an ambulance. That is what would cement his character as one of the all-time greats. It's the only thing missing, tbh.

I'm excited to see where this all goes, though I doubt I'll watch much of it along the way. Depending on next week's show, I may go out of my way to watch their build-up promos though.
I think Rock put over at how dangerous Punk is. He put him over very well actually. He said he knows how dangerous he is and he found that out at first hand at RAW 1000th. He also said Punk has one of the best brains the business has ever seen. Also Punk is never going to give you that kind of vibe that he'd put you in an ambulance.

Re: punk promo pre-rock entrance

Fucking hell they've had one segment together and people are already talking about "what's missing from the feud right now"?

And to be honest it is hard to accept Punk as being "dangerous" given how he has been booked for the last however many months, he got some good offense in on the TLC match which was a good start but it's not gonna erase everything that has happened prior to that. Not only that but he is clearly physically inferior to Rock by some margin which doesn't help, some of you might not like that old chestnut but it's true. I also kinda loled at the "boxing with God" line, I get that it wasn't meant to be taken at face value of course but it still just seems silly to me for Punk to be playing the tough guy that his character clearly is not.

Indeed. No one owned anyone anyway. Rock did he norm comedy and Punk did his norm 4th wall stuff. Both did a great job and had a good start to this 3 week feud. The promos had intensity, seriousness and comedy. It was good. I'm going to find it hard not to read the SD spoilers.
