Re: "Understand that your arms are just to short to box with God"
I loved the promo and the saying but something about it was just off to me. I think it might be his size compared to the rock who was so much bigger or because he was booked like a bitch since turning heel but it didn't sound right coming from the person who looked like the underdog. I guess on the otherhand it makes sense if punk was going for looking like a guy that is delusional, but the line would have been more epic coming from the goliath whose hubris brings him down rather than the David, like maybe if Andre the giant said it.
Punk certainly stepped it up and brought his A game, I knew these two would have epic promos. Rock definitely used catchphrases way to much whereas Punk was just great and pulling out some awesome lines. The match at the Royal Rumble will be a classic as will the segments with these two leading up to it.
Some of you smarks make me laugh. You guys make it seem like this whole promo was real and they were really talking shit for real, for the whole segment. All of you who say "Rock owned Punk" and "Punk owned Rock" are so funny.
Maybe focus on the awesomeness of the promo and the feud and amazing word exchanges instead of "HERR HE OWNEDZ HIM" Goddammit.
Not hating, just needed to get my feelings out, because this is stupid to me, and don't bother arguing with me. I have seen people say that Rock backed off and shit with Punk and vice versa, people, scripted, remember? They are scripted to act like that. No one owned the other if its scripted and Rocky and Punk were told to act the way they did. Yes, they have loop holes to say what they say, but they have to stay on a consistent basis, made by WWE management and writers.
Lol. Both are told what to do. One cant own another if they can't express their true feelings, when they're told what to do and how to act. Punk could be a pussy next confrontation, doesn't mean he got owned. Just my two cents.
For one, he only looked good before The Rock came out. Once The Rock came out, he looked like a little weenie by comparison. The only part where Punk actually mounted any verbal offense fell flat for me because he was threatening a dude who is almost literally twice as strong as him, faster than him, and much bigger in stature.
My girlfriend laughed at out when Punk made the threats, and when I asked why after the show, she said because it was impossible to take him threatening The Rock seriously. It just seemed awkward.
And two: The "good part" of the promo, before The Rock came out. . .yeah, it sounded familar. Why you ask?
Skip to 2 minutes in:
Basically the same shit. "I got you to cheer for me, I don't give a shit about any of you. I manipulated you all. I was lying all along". Brings up super heroes. Attacks the fans. Calls the fans puppets. Says he hates the fans and that he's better than them. Says each and every thing in both promos.
The only really difference is that he's calling himself the "devil" in that promo instead of "god". It was just a recycled promo. Just like the pipebomb promo against Cena before MITB was a patchwork recycle of the Carlito promo against Cena a couple years prior.
I'll repost my thoughts on it from the Rock/Punk discussion thread:
It seems not a lot of people liked the first part of the promo before Rock came out and found it nonsensical and boring. I absolutely disagree. In my opinion it served as to for once and for all put a lid on any other beef Punk may have had leading up to that point. It was punk emerging as the victor, still champion, still here, still defiant. It crystalized his entire philosophy and helped him discard his previous, whiney gimmick and replace it with a much more credible, much more serious style. It was like watching him take off his ring attire and put on a suit of armor and preparing himself for a real war against the rock, and not just his previous opponents. He knew he wouldn't be able to pull the same shit against the Rock in that gimmick and therefore he "suited up" into his main event armor so to speak.
Quoted for truth, couldn't say it better!
Pastime; Trolling the IWC.
