What kind of half-assed champion would that make him, though

Only work hard on the big PPVs? How about working hard your entire reign

That would make him a smart "champion", because there's no reason to sacrifice a rare Rock PPV appearance on a show that nobody cares about and is just a distraction between Rumble and WM. What do you mean "working hard"? wrestling matches? He will do it when it's the right time(Rumble and WM), he's not working full time with this company. For the same reason Lesnar and Taker aren't going to work these PPVs.

If you're WWE Champion you work every PPV or he might as well hand in the WWE title and go back to the original schedule of showing up for special matches. No Champ is bigger then the WWE, and the Rock agrees with that.

The only significant thing about him potentially becoming champ is to see have him do a semi-pro run again. Otherwise it really wont affect buy-rates just to have him be the special attraction they used him as last year.

A lot of wrestlers didn't work title matches when they were champions, and nobody before was in a situation or position like Rock is in now. Rock IS bigger than the WWE or their title, that's the thing I don't think some people understand, he's working with the company, not for them. The significant thing is watching Rock winning the title after 10 years, that's the important thing and biggest aspect of this storyline. The affect on the buyrates should be Rumble and WM, not EC, that's a dead show for years now which is why Rock is not going to work on it and Vince is still not that crazy to even ask him to do it. He will be semi-regular from Rumble to WM29, like last year when he worked 7 shows in a row.

No and it is good on both WWE and The Rock's part actually.

If Rock was involved we would all know he would win. Secondly Rock would not enter a high risk match like that when he has a big movie schedule. As champion at that time, he will attend RAWs but nothing else. They will use Cena/Punk and a few others as the house show attractions.

As for WWE's part, it saves them money by not having him appear and it makes his name more attractive for the #1 PPV of the year, WrestleMania 29. They are going to try and use Rock on this part-time basis as much as they can to help their buyrates as a decent WrestleMania number makes up a huge portion of their revenue.

I doubt it. But i would be nice to see at least one title defense from him before losing it (likely) at Mania.

The guy has a busy schedule and can do whatever he wants (he will show up as much as his schedule lets him). Hell you are lucky he will even be at Mania since he has GI Joe duties on the same day (pretty sure he will get there in time for his match).

I don't think the title needs to be defended every pay-per view. Back in the day the IC title headlined some IYH and the title had more presitge back then

In 2011 and 2012 the buyrates werent impressive but in 2010 Elimination Chamber was above Survivor Series in sales

I agree to disagree on the importantness of the EC... I think it's one of the best matches of the year

What if they did a tag team EC? IDK if its been done but that would be epic. Or for the IC or US and have put over guys like Kidd, Sandow with great spots
