Are we seriously getting rock is holding back again both guys did a great job. I think Punk was better mainly because he was more serious but they both worked very well together. It was so great seeing Rock go on Punk and not see Punk standing their smiling like silly Cena did. These guys are both old school and will work together perfectly. Rock will go harder next time but so will Punk.

It seems not a lot of people liked the first part of the promo before Rock came out and found it nonsensical and boring. I absolutely disagree. In my opinion it served as to for once and for all put a lid on any other beef Punk may have had leading up to that point. It was punk emerging as the victor, still champion, still here, still defiant. It crystalized his entire philosophy and helped him discard his previous, whiney gimmick and replace it with a much more credible, much more serious style. It was like watching him take off his ring attire and put on a suit of armor and preparing himself for a real war against the rock, and not just his previous opponents. He knew he wouldn't be able to pull the same shit against the Rock in that gimmick and therefore he "suited up" into his main event armor so to speak.

Punk is a great mic worker I've know that for 10 years, but in the landscape of the history of pro wrestling he's a spec on the Rock's ass.

There were more than two, Rock, Austin, HHH, Foley, Taker, Kane, and even at some points Jericho and Angle were all considered to be top guys back then.....I just dont like the whole ratings argument because it is so skewed....of course the Rock brought in better ratings back then because that was the hight of Professional Wrestling and both WWE and at some points WCW were bring in better ratings than WWE is now....There is no way to prove that if Punk was in the WWE back then that he wouldnt be bringing in the same great ratings just like nobody can prove that if the Rock started his career during this era instead of back then that the ratings would be anybody now.....So why even bother bringing it up...

Rock was on fire as usual and that was the best promo in the company since Rock's Miami/WWE title promo after WM. Basically covered everything, most important thing was how Punk pretended to not care about his promises, when in reality, he stopped trying after he legitimately failed to do it. Not a change, not a new era, couldn't even get an ice cream because he has no power, as Rock said, delusional. Rock also mentioned how the people rejected Punk and not the other way around, which is spot on because the paying audience refused to see him as a top guy no matter how many matches he won or how many days he held the belt. Rock just sold the Rumble in one promo. Created tension with Punk, put over the importance of the title for him, entertained the live audience like only he can AND between all that, even put Punk over as a threat. Pleasure to watch the master work his magic again.

Punk did his job well when Rock came out. The first part of the promo where he cries about Tyson Kid and backstage politics was pointless and had nothing to do with anything. The main part here was selling the Rumble match.

Would love to watch that off-air segment of Rock giving Punk 3 Rock Bottoms and a People's Elbow. Can't wait for Rock's first SD in a decade in his hometown. After this money promo, SmackDown should be more about fun and maybe fresh interactions.

Pretty much this. Rock could have easily went on Punk esque rant saying why his face run failed, but 1 it's not his style, and 2 it's not productive.

Basically said everything he needed to say with a small insult. You tried to revolutionize the industry and you couldn't even sell an ice cream bar.

It's so refreshing to see the Punk and Rock taking each other seriously. They both know their respective roles, no pun intended. No smirking and no-selling like Cena and face Punk. All business and honesty with a sprinkling of classic Rock insults.

Great promo by both men tonight the main reason for that is it wasn't about burying each other it was about getting the match over and thats what a promo is meant to do, Rock put Punk over as a threat to him and Punk backed that up with what he said and made Rock know that this match isn't going to be a walk over for him.

Punk and Rocks style go together so well so they where able to cut a much more serious promo with dept and meaning be hide it unlike Rock/Cena who both had to use cheap shots against each other which i hope we don't get between Rock/Punk.

Great promo wish we had more then four weeks build to it though because i expect this to be so much better then Rock vs Cena in terms of build and the match it's self.
