I never said it was a shoot promo, I said he tried to cut a different promo style and he couldn't. And you of all people don't have the right to be calling anybody else an idiot.

Have you people not seen Rocks shoot promo? He destroyed Cenas existence and exposed him for the fraud he is, no wounder WWE never aired it bc there posterboy wouldve never been able to recover. Punk cut a great promo before Rock came out then underperformed once Rock was in his face. He lost all credibility when he tried to act like hes Rocks biggest challenge.

Rock faced guys like Hogan-Steve Austin who are the only guys close to his level, now hes has to sell that a guy like Punk whos so far beneath him as threat and he did it perfectly while making Punk look far better than Cena ever has. Rock looked great compared to 2012 when he held back to make Cena look good. I like the direction of this feud already and commend Punk for not reducing himself to crying like a baby about Dwayne not being there all the time.

Ive come to grips we will never see 98-03 Rock, but this Rock will do, as long as i never see 2012 Rock again.

Now that I think about it. It really is a war between hardcore wrestling fans and the attitude era fans. That's why we have so much bashing going on. The Attitude Era fans are always going to have The Rock's back and bash CM Punk. These are the fans that have watched wrestling in the Attitude Era and are now just casual viewers of WWE. The fans that have been watching religiously even after the Attitude Era or since 2006 are going to have CM Punk's back.

This really is going to be split but I would think that more than 50% of the IWC will want Punk to win.

Either way, The Rock's winning. Great segment between the two once again.

The most important thing for me was the intensity that was brought forth. Both men appear to be legitimate threats to eachother and didn't disrespect eachother by no selling like Cena would do whenever things got heated.

I'm happy. I believe the majority of fans will be happy with this and the internet smarks can continue doing what they've always done. That is never going to change.

Great promo by both guys. Punks line about Rocks arms being too short to box with God was brilliant. This coming from somebody who hates him. My problem with Punk tonight was him just destroying Kayfabe during that rant before Rocky came out. He said "It doesn't matter how good of a wrestler you are" when referring to there being a glass ceiling in wrestling. Of course we know thats somewhat true but its a terrible thing to say on TV. You still have to try and keep the illusion that the best wrestlers win. Hated everything about that.

Thought The Rock's last bit about Punk looking in the mirror was hilarious. Rock has always been a comedian. Its what his character is. think it would be weird if he came out serious and not joking. The silly/some what homophobic jokes are who The Rock. I wouldn't haven't any other way because I enjoy it.

Lightbulb Re: Official The Rock vs. CM Punk Discussion Thread

Personally, I think Punk was great tonight and the Rock was just ok, but he did well enough to put the match over.
I don't think he was "holding back" against Punk; he honestly came across to me like he was slightly unprepared for this promo.

I know he normally uses catchphrases and throws out some lines he knows the audience will chant, but I felt like the he should have kept things a little more on the serious side this time.
We know he's capable of it, so watching him spiral into the "CookiePuss" stuff didn't appeal to me.

Also, I know that the big dig towards Punk from the Rock was supposed to be his "You couldn't start your revolution" line; but wasn't Punk's point before the Rock even got out there that he was doing everything for himself and that the audience didn't want things to change anyway so screw them?

IDK, maybe that's why Rock's promo didn't seem nearly as strong to me.
Either way, it has people talking so that's what matters the most for the ppv.

The Rock wasn't holding back. The Rock just doesn't do this as much as Punk does. You can't expect The Rock to be at his A Game when he only makes occasional appearances. I could even tell by his facial expressions that he tried hard not to laugh after his jokes and to keep his serious face, and also keep an intense face while Punk was talking to him face to face.

The Rock still did great out there though. I mean he is The Rock.
